'Will You Be Here Tomorrow?': A 1998 Gruesome Death-Filled Workplace Safety Video

From geekology, This is 'Will You Be Here Tomorrow?', a five minute workplace safety video from 1998 created by the gore-loving folks at Educational Resources, Inc. SPOILER: Everybody dies or near dies. And all horribly. There are workers getting chopped up, gored, crushed, electrocuted, set on fire, their eyeballs poked out, some dude even gets hit with a gas canister missile. From the best I can tell, the video was originally made to encourage people to quit their jobs so they don't die at work, which I am all for. Of all the ways I would want to die, 'on the job' is near the very bottom of my list. Unless my job was truly doing what I love, in which case holy shit I really do become an alien gigolo in the future. Pre-apologies to whatever alien I die on top of, I have a bad heart and the boner pills probably made it explode. Feel free to just roll my body onto the floor and take your space bucks back from the top of the dresser.

Rare Nightmare On Elm Street Deleted Scene Makes Us See The Movie In A Whole New Light

From slashfilm, The original A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of the most famous horror movies of all time. The film has been so talked about, and remade, over the last 30 years that you wouldn’t think there’d be much left to learn about the classic franchise. However, an old deleted scene has just resurfaced, and it adds an entirely new layer to the story. Check out this extended look at Nancy first learning about Freddy Krueger, and then hear what else she learns.

If you know the original A Nightmare on Elm Street well, then the first minute and a half of this scene will look very familiar to you. Nancy’s mother Marge brings her daughter down to the basement to tell her the story of the child murderer who was released on a technicality. After he gets out, the parents decide they need to take him down themselves. However, it turns out Nancy's parents didn't take the law into their own hands and burn Fred Krueger alive out of some personal sense of justice or fear that he might come after their children. As the deleted scene reveals, it was revenge, because he'd already gotten their children. Nancy had a sibling who was killed by Freddy.

And just like that, A Nightmare on Elm Street changes drastically. Imagine how Nancy is feeling when her mother tells her "You weren’t always an only child." Nancy’s entire relationship with the movie’s antagonist changes in this longer version of the scene. This isn’t just a case of Nancy trying to survive a vengeful spirit, it’s actually a young girl who wants to take revenge on the man who killed the sibling she never knew. This actually helps explain some of the motivation that Nancy later has when she realizes there may be a path to actually killing Freddy Krueger. She’s not looking to simply get out alive, she wants him dead for the same reasons her parents did.

It’s interesting when scenes like this get deleted as they have the potential to not only change various aspects of the movie, but in the case of a franchise like A Nightmare on Elm Street, it would have had the potential to change the entire series. When Wes Craven made the decision to cut this scene he essentially changed these characters. While he likely removed the scene because he decided the subplot wasn’t necessary, had he left it in, it could have very easily been a part of Nancy’s return in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. As each entry in the series built on its predecessor, perhaps this information would have slightly changed how the third film ended, which could have subtly changed everything that came after.

What do you think about this change to A Nightmare on Elm Street? Does it impact what the movie means to you?

Full 'Twin Peaks' Cast List Proves Fittingly Strange

From iwatchstuff, With production completed on the new season of Twin Peaks, Showtime has released an official list of the series' new and returning cast members. Appropriately for the subject matter, it is an eclectic, bizarre list that I can barely even wrap my head around and includes a dead person. New cast members include Michael Cera, Monica Bellucci, Jim Belushi, Jeremy Davies, Laura Dern, Ernie Hudson, Ashley Judd, David Koechner, Matthew Lillard, Trent Reznor, Tim Roth, Amanda Seyfried, Tom Sizemore, Eddie Vedder, Brett Gelman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Caleb Landry Jones, and Naomi Watts. Returning stars include lead Kyle MacLachlan, David Duchovny, Alicia Witt, Harry Dean Stanton and, thankfully, "Log Lady" Catherine Coulson, who passed away last September but seems to have shot at least some scenes.

Meanwhile, Michael J. Anderson, best known as the Black Lodge's Man from Another Place, seems to have been correct in saying, "When you see me again, it won't be me." He's not listed in the cast, so I'm going to guess that when you see him again, it will be listed actor Clark Middleton.

Mark Hamill Wears The Same Sweater For 30 Years

From geekology, because some things never go out of fashion, these are some shots of Mark Hamill wearing the same sweater thirty years apart. Now that is a quality sweater. I wonder if it's as warm as the inside of a tauntaun. You know I actually still wear some of the same boxers I've had for over ten years. The elastic is completely worn out though so I rely on my penis to hold them up. I just poke it through the hole in the front then tie it in a pretzel knot. Is that what that's for? I tell myself that's what that's for.

Eerie! Watch the Titanic sink in real time

From geekology, This is a two hour and forty minute animation depicting a real-time recreation of the sinking of the Titanic, with text annotations. The video starts with the crew spotting the iceberg, and ends with the ship breaking in half and completely submerging. It's weird in the movie I feel like they made it seem so much faster. Still, even two hours and forty minutes time couldn't prevent 1,500 people from going down with the ship. You know they say the captain is supposed to go down with the ship, but if I were a captain on a sinking ship I would be putting a fake beard and mustache and saying, "Hola. ¿Dónde está México?"

[JPX]  For the past few days I have been watching this whenever I had pockets of free time.  It's downright eerie yet memorizing.  Although mostly quiet occasional noise punctuates the silence as the ship starts to break apart highlighting just how terrifying this must have been.

Box Office

From darkhorizons, Universal Pictures' big-budget fairy tale "The Huntsman: Winter's War" was a dud at the box-office this weekend as it opened to a mere $20.1 million - that's 64% lower than the domestic debut of its 2012 predecessor "Snow White and the Huntsman" with $56.2 million.

With a $115 million budgeted film and terrible reviews, it's going to have to hope to make its cash back overseas. Yet, after two weeks of global release, the film has managed only a further $80.2 million outside the U.S. so far. It also marks the latest non-Marvel costly film flop for Chris Hemsworth off the back of last year's "Blackhat" and "In the Heart of the Sea".

Disney's "The Jungle Book" stayed in first place, taking in a further $60.8 million over the weekend domestically and globally soaring past the $500 million mark. "Barbershop: The Next Cut" came in third with $10.8 million, followed by "Zootopia" with a further $6.6 million domestically and an incredible global total so far passing the $900 million mark.

In limited release, the Tom Hanks-led "Hologram for a King" opened in tenth to $1.2 million from a 400-screen rollout, the Kevin Spacey and Michael Shannon comedy "Elvis and Nixon" had a similar screen number but only managed $470,000.

Is nothing sacred? A 'CHiP's' movie is in the works...

From slashfilm, CHiPs has been set for release on August 11, 2017. The adaptation of the TV series, which ran from 1977-1983, is being written and directed by Dax Shepard, who will also star in the film about two California highway patrol officers and their adventures in crime-fighting. Shepard is playing Officer Jon Baker, the role originated by Larry Wilcox, while Michael Pena takes over the role of Frank “Ponch” Poncherello from Erik Estrada.

However, rather than taking a comedic approach like a 21 Jump Street, this will apparently be a more serious flick akin toBad Boys or Lethal Weapon, films that intersperse comedy among the action and intrigue. It’s a surprising career move for Dax Shepard, and we’ll see how it plays out next year.

Iron Man joins Sony's new Spider-Man film Robert Downey Jr. will costar in Sony's 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Iron Man is now #TeamSpidey.

Robert Downey Jr. has signed on to appear as Tony Stark in Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Homecoming, further weaving the new standalone webslinger film into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Spider-Man has previously been licensed exclusively by Sony, but a sharing arrangement last year allowed Marvel Studios to feature the rebooted character, played by The Impossible’s Tom Holland, inCaptain America: Civil War.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently told EW that the deal is a two-way street. “He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth,” said Feige, who is producing Homecoming with former Sony studio chief Amy Pascal [via ew].

Smallville wasn't enough non-Superman for you? How about a show about Superman that takes place 100 years before he was born?

From slashfilm, Not to be outdone by his best frenemy (and fellow Martha fan) Batman, Superman is also getting his own hometown prequel TV series. For the past couple of years David Goyer has been working with Syfy on Krypton, which follows Superman’s grandfather, two generations before the planet blew up and baby Kal-El was sent hurtling toward Earth. Now the series has taken some big strides forward, picking up an official pilot order, a new showrunner, and a new director.

Deadline reports Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow) will serve as executive producer and showrunner on Krypton, and that Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) has been set to direct. Goyer and Kindler are now hard at work rewriting the pilot script. Goyer had written the earlier draft with Ian Goldberg, based on a story that he and Goldberg had come up with together. The story unfolds during a time when the House of El has been tarnished by shame. Superman’s grandfather works to restore the family name and save his doomed planet.

Since this is all taking place two generations before Superman, we likely won’t get to see an adorable baby Kal-El toddling about or anything like that. But if you liked all the Krypton parts of Man of Steel, Krypton sounds like a chance to explore that world further. (Technically they’re on different timelines — Warner Bros. and DC’s shows have no connection to the current big-screen DC universe — but you know what I mean.) Here’s Goyer discussing Krypton last year:

Part of the fun of doing Man of Steel — and I was so insistent on setting that opening on Krypton and really seeing it, was pulling back the curtain. The first draft, the first forty pages were on Krypton, so we compressed that all down to fifteen minutes and there were a lot of ideas that I wanted to use in the film that didn’t ultimately make it into the film.

Kindler is coming off of three seasons on Fox’s Sleepy Hollow. Before that, he worked on Syfy’s Sanctuary, Stargate: Atlantis, and Stargate SG-1. McCarthy directed the entirety of Peaky Blinders‘ second season, and his other directing credits include episodes of Sherlock, Doctor Who, and Ripper Street.

Prince died

(CNN)Police are investigating a death at the estate of superstar Prince in Carver County, Minnesota, according to Carver County Sheriff spokesman Jason Kamerud.

"We are not releasing any information regarding the identity of the person who died until next of kin is notified," Kamerud said.

Deputies are on scene of a death investigation at Paisley Park in Chanhassen. More info to follow. -814— Carver County S.O. (@CarverSheriff) April 21, 2016

Earlier this month, Prince said he wasn't feeling well, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and canceled at least one concert in the city. Some days later, he took the stage in Atlanta to perform. After that concert, the singer's plane made an emergency landing, the singer's spokesperson Yvette Noel-Schure told CNN. At the time she said, "He is fine and at home."

Developing story - more to come

[Update]

From hollywoodlife, This is devastating news. Prince’s body was discovered inside his Minnesota home on Thursday, April 21, reports TMZ. Sadly, little is known about his cause of death, aside from the reports that he had been battling an illness for weeks beforehand.

Prince’s rep, Yvette Noel-Schure, confirmed the tragic death to AP. HollywoodLife.com has reached out for further comment.

It was originally reported that an unidentified person had died at Prince’s home, causing major concern for the singer’s health. Sadly, it was quickly confirmed that Prince had, in fact, passed away and it was his body that had been discovered.

As previously mentioned, Prince was flying to a concert in Atlanta, Georgia when his airplane was forced to land in Illinois because he wasn’t feeling well. At the time it was reported that Prince had the flu, and he was rushed to a hospital after his plane landed in the middle of the night.

Our thoughts remain with Prince’s family and friends during this very difficult time.

'Three's Company' Movie To Shockingly Place Man, Women in Single Apartment

From iwatchstuff, New Line has plans to once again explore that timeless premise of a straight man pretending to be gay so that a landlord will let him live with women he is not married to. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio apparently got drunk watching TV Land and started negotiations to pick up the movie rights to Three's Company, the late '70s sitcom that saw John Ritter, Joyce DeWitt, and, originally, Suzanne Somers sharing a Santa Monica apartment and tirelessly prolonging a sexual comedy of errors. Writers Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, who previously produced a tedious example of gender roles with He's Just Not That Into You, are already attached to handle the script. As there is absolutely no way this premise plays in the present day, it's said the film will be a '70s period piece, set in that blissful time before I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry mined faux homosexuality for comedy gold.

Box Office

From ew, The Jungle Book earned a lot more than the bare necessities this weekend, opening to a whopping $103.6 million domestically and $240 million worldwide.

Disney’s live-action adventure demolished expectations to earn the second highest April opening in box office history, second only to last year’s Furious 7 ($147.2 million). A $100 million domestic opening is a pretty rare accomplishment for a PG-rated movie, and The Jungle Book is only the second PG-rated Disney movie to do so. (Alice in Wonderland opened to $116.1 million in 2010.)

A good chunk of The Jungle Book’s success came from 3D and IMAX screens, earning an estimated $31 million domestically from 3D and $10.4 million domestically from IMAX. Globally, The Jungle Book reeled in $20.4 million from IMAX screens, setting an IMAX record for the biggest PG-rated opening.

The Jungle Book has been a particular success in India, where it’s pulled in an estimated total of $20.1 million. That already makes it the highest-grossing Disney release in Indian box office history, and after only 10 days in theaters, it’s already become the third highest-grossing Hollywood movie (behind Furious 7 and Jurassic World).

To date, The Jungle Book has raked in an estimated $291 million worldwide and earned an A CinemaScore. Disney also took fifth place with Zootopia, which $8.2 million domestically and $19 million globally. As a result, Disney has officially crossed $2 billion at the global box office for the 15th year in a row.

But while The Jungle Book may have been the, um, king of the jungle, two other new wide releases hit theaters this weekend. Barbershop: The Next Cut debuted to $20.2 million in 2,661 theaters, which is almost exactly what the original opened to back in 2002. Barbershop 2: Back in Business still holds the biggest opening for the series with $24.2 million in 2004. The Next Cut earned an A- CinemaScore.

As for Kevin Costner-starring thriller Criminal, it didn’t even manage to crack the top five. Criminal opened in 2,683 theaters and only earned $5.9 million and a B- CinemaScore.

Instead, The Boss and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice held on to their spots in the top five. The Boss added another $10.2 million to its total, dropping 57 percent in its second weekend for a domestic total of $40.4 million. Batman v Superman took another hit in its fourth weekend as it relinquished 3D and IMAX screens to The Jungle Book, falling 61 percent for a fourth weekend of $9 million. Its domestic total is now at $311.3 million.

Here are this weekend’s top five at the domestic box office:

1. The Jungle Book — $103.6 million

2. Barbershop: The Next Cut — $20.2 million

3. The Boss — $10.2 million

4. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice — $9 million

5. Zootopia — $8.2 million

James Cameron announces four Avatar sequels

From ew, Good news for Sam Worthington! At 20th Century Fox’s CinemaCon presentation Thursday, director James Cameron took the stage to announce that his vision for the Avatar franchise has expanded further. “We’ve begun to bump up against the limitations of our art form,” said Cameron. “There’s just too much story.”

And so: There will be four Avatar sequels. You should be suspicious of any promises about release dates, but Cameron outlined a Christmas release schedule for the films: Avatar 2 in Christmas 2018; Avatar 3 in Christmas 2020; Avatar 4 in Christmas 2022; and Avatar 5 in Christmas 2023. “Each one of which stands alone,” Cameron promised, “but which together form a complete saga.”

The presentation ended with Cameron showing off some concept art for the next four Avatar movies. Lots of green and blue, and I think I saw an alien turtle swimming. Fingers crossed, Avatar 5 will be all about that turtle.

‘Star Wars’ Fans Flip Out For Mark Hamill’s Birthday Tweet To Daisy Ridley

From huffingtonpost, It’s a well-known fact that Mark Hamill (aka Luke Skywalker) has the best sense of humor, and his birthday wish to Daisy Ridley (Rey) proves it.

Ridley turned 24 over the weekend and Hamill wished her a happy birthday with a hilarious, “Star Wars”-themed tweet. The 64-year-old actor attached a photo of the two reenacting the time Skywalker carried Yoda during his Jedi training.

‘Batman v Superman’ Three-Hour, R-Rated Cut May Head to Theaters After All

From slashfilm, Even before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hit theaters, we knew that there was an R-rated version of the comic book flick coming to home video. Dubbed the Ultimate Edition, the new cut was going to add 30 minutes of footageback into the movie and spice it up with a little more violence that would push it to being an R-rated feature. The only way fans were going to see this was when it hit home video, but now Warner Bros. is reportedly considering releasing theBatman v Superman R-rated cut in theaters. Find out more below.

According to the Heroic Insider podcast (via ScreenCrush), the disappointing box office run for Batman v Superman has Warner Bros. Pictures trying to figure out how to get a little more mileage out of the movie as the grosses keep falling each weekend.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice made a lot of money in its opening weekend, racking up over $166 million domestically. However, from Friday-to-Friday, the film dropped 81% in its second weekend, and 68% total for the entire weekend. And in its third round this past weekend, Batman v Superman dropped another 60% from the second Friday to third Friday, where it only pulled down $6.045 million.

To put these numbers in perspective, Forbes reports Batman had an opening weekend of just $42 million, and when its third weekend rolled around, it landed $6.065 million. So as of now, Batman v Superman is dropping at the box office faster than Batman, and that’s after having an opening weekend nearly four times that of the 1989 film from Tim Burton. Even adjusted for inflation, Batman v Superman isn’t doing so hot when compared to Batman.

In the end, Batman v Superman will make some money, but it’s not going to be as big of a hit as the studio was hoping. In fact, the movie probably isn’t even going to cross $1 billion worldwide, and it will just barely cross the $900 million mark if the numbers keep up their current trend.

So the solution that Warner Bros. sees is to bring the R-rated cut of Batman v Superman to the big screen so that curious audiences will flock back to theaters to see the extra 30 minutes of footage on the big screen. After all, since The Boss just beat it at the box office, the studio clearly isn’t getting as much repeat viewers as something like Star Wars: The Force Awakens did.

This is just a rumor for now, but if Warner Bros. announces any plans to release the Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition in theaters, we’ll have all the details for you.

Box Office

(CNN) Melissa McCarthy‘s “The Boss” proved to be a worthy adversary of “Batman v Superman” at the box office this weekend, narrowly besting the Warner Bros. giant with a haul of roughly $23.5 million.

But the difference between the two films was smaller than Gal Gadot’s role in the superhero smash (yes, we’re still bitter). “The Boss” beat out “Batman v Superman” by less than $50,000, according to Box Office Mojo.

The $250 million “Batman v Superman” experienced a cataclysmic drop in its second week in theaters, and the fact that a $30 million comedy overtook Warner Bros.’ prized pony is sure to be unwelcome news.

However, both films have received an overwhelmingly negative critical response, making them strange-yet-similar bedfellows in an industry-wide conversation about critics’ influence on moviegoers.

“The Boss” marks McCarthy’s sixth straight film to gross over $20 million in its opening weekend, dating back to 2011’s “Bridesmaids,” according to Box Office Mojo. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter announced on Saturday that McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone, who directed “The Boss,” have already lined up their next project, a college comedy entitled “Life Of The Party.”

“Zootopia” also continues to make a strong showing at the box office, coming in third with $14.4 million. “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” clocked in at fourth place with $6.4 million, while the action flick “Hardcore Henry” grossed roughly $5 million, closing out the top five.

Disneyland worker found dead in haunted house

From usatoday, A technician working at Disneyland Paris died inside the theme park’s haunted house Saturday.

The Phantom Manor attraction remained closed Monday following the discovery of the 45-year-old man's body, according to the BBC.

"We are truly saddened to learn of the passing of one of our Cast Members, and our hearts go out to his family and friends during this very difficult time," the resort said in a statement to the network.

The investigation remained ongoing as of Monday, Sky News reported, but the technician was believed to have been electrocuted between 8 and 9 a.m., before the park opened for the day. He was working on the attraction’s lighting, according to several reports.

Patrick Maldidier, a Disney union representative, told the French newspaper Le Parisien that the employee, whose name has not been released, “always had a smile on his face.”

The accident marked the first death in years at Disneyland Paris, billed as Europe’s top tourist attraction with 14.2 million visits in 2014.

A contracted employee died at the same Disneyland park in 2010 after he fell into the water inside the It’s a Small World attraction and became trapped under a boat, the BBC reported.

In 2013, a 5-year-old boy fell into the water on the park’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride and become trapped under the boat before his father pulled him to safety, according the Telegraph.

The haunted house attraction is expected to reopen Wednesday at the earliest, following a police investigation.

It's a wrap! Erik Bauersfeld, voice of 'Star Wars' Admiral Ackbar, dies at 93

From usatoday, Erik Bauersfeld, the actor who gave the voice to beloved Star Wars character Admiral Ackbar, has died at age 93, his management office confirmed Monday.

A statement from Coolwaters Productions said Bauersfeld died on Sunday in his Berkeley, Calif., home.

"Actor Erik Bauersfeld, known by Star Wars fans around the globe as the voice of Admiral Ackbar, has passed away," the statement said. "His passing comes at the age of 93 and the cause was natural causes. Erik will be deeply missed by his family here at Coolwaters and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."

The veteran voice actor and radio drama producer will be best remembered voicing the amphibious Admiral Ackbar, foremost military commander of the Rebel Alliance, in the Star Wars saga.

Ackbar gave the famous line in 1983's Return of the Jedi, "It's a trap" which became a popular internet meme. Bauersfeld was surprised to learn about Ackbar's popularity years after executing the work.

"The fans who write say they'll never forget 'It's a trap!' I don't even remember how I said it," an amused Bauersfeld told the San Francisco Chronicle in 2011. "It's not that I don't like it or don't respect it. I just don't have time to be a fan and see it 10 times or 20 times."

Bauersfeld did remember that he was inspired by Ackbar's unusual look, and was offered no direction for the voice.

"I saw the face, and I knew what he must sound like," he said.

Ackbar and Bauersfeld returned for an appearance as the main resistance leader in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Bauersfeld also voiced Bib Fortuna, Jabba the Hut's evil assistant in The Return of the Jedi.

The Coolwaters Productions website paid tribute on Monday.

Daily Spider-Man! Xandu’s small group of Facebook friends get some relief from all those snapshots of his “magic" casseroles

Box Office

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is falling faster than a speeding bullet.

Warner Bros.’ superhero epic plummeted 68 percent in its second weekend, from $166 million to only $52.4 million. That’s a steep drop, and although Batman v Superman scored the seventh-biggest opening weekend of all time, it only earned the 26th biggest second weekend. After 10 days in theaters, Batman v Superman has earned an estimated $261.5 million domestically and $681.3 million worldwide.

Although Batman v Superman set records last weekend for the biggest domestic March opening of all time and the biggest worldwide superhero opening, there was some uncertainty as to how it would perform in its second weekend, especially with negative reviews and a lukewarm B CinemaScore. Still, Batman v Superman’sfall to earth is actually fairly similar to what Man of Steel did three years ago. When Zack Snyder’s first Superman movie hit theaters in June 2013, it opened to $116.6 million before falling 65 percent in its second weekend. The fact that Batman v Superman had a slightly steeper drop isn’t all that surprising, especially since Batman v Superman had worse critical reviews and a worse CinemaScore.

But it’s important to note that Man of Steel went up against two major new releases in its second weekend: Monsters University and World War Z, both of which knocked Man of Steel to third place. Batman v Superman didn’t have any competition in its second weekend, as the only major new release was the faith-based drama God’s Not Dead 2.

And God’s Not Dead 2 didn’t prove to be much of a threat: The faith-based drama only opened to $8.1 million. That’s less than what the original opened to back in 2014 ($9.2 million) — even though the sequel opened in 2,419 theaters and the first God’s Not Dead only debuted in 780.

As for the holdovers, Zootopia had another solid weekend, adding $20 million to its total.
