I've done the research (all right here on the blog) and giant monster flicks are made or broken by the shenanigans of the human characters. So unfair.Octopunkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14948127593611773731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17244873.post-39731004439117334152014-05-11T13:23:03.369-07:002014-05-11T13:23:03.369-07:00Ugh, "surprising humanity", "engagi...Ugh, "surprising humanity", "engaging" and "sympathetic" are not words I wanted to hear describing a new Godzilla flick. In fact, we very rarely see the action from a omniscient point of view. For almost all of the movie, and most rewardingly in the third act, Godzilla is told through the eyes of its human characters. We only know what they know. We only see what they can see. That gives the film a wonderful and surprising humanity, but it also leaves us feeling – for the most part – disconnected with Godzilla."

A lack of omniscient point of view is interesting, but "never tells this story from the eye of the monster?" That's practically every monster movie. Anyone remember Cloverfield? Single handheld camera? Hello?

I am crazy excited for Godzilla.Octopunkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14948127593611773731noreply@blogger.com
