Burning Bright

(2010) ***1/2

A hurricane is coming to town, a guy is purchasing a starving tiger to star in his planned tourist trap safari ranch, and his stepdaughter tries unsuccessfully to drop her autistic brother off at school so that she can go to college.

A blog favorite, this one has been on my radar since last year. In fact, the DVD has been living in our apartment since last year (yes I am Netflix's bitch). We had intended to watch it last horrorthon but never got around to it. I really enjoyed the live tiger and the relatively reasonable and likable (and super hot) protagonist.  If this were real life, I'm pretty confident the tiger would've made mincemeat out of the kids in about three seconds flat, but the way the movie plays out is more emotionally satisfying. Those who have seen the movie, would the ending qualify as a PITA?

Yes, I agree that it ranks high on the Pipe in the Ass scale. The bad guy is despicable and he gets what's coming to him.

I'm glad you guys finally watched this one! It's the ultimate (ridiculous) predicament.

Good grief, AC, why don't you just rip the movies you get from Netflix? All you need is Mactheripper (free download) to rip it to your computer and and Roxypopcorn to burn it to a disc. I copied every movie I ever rented from Netflix over a 8 year period.

WHAT?!?! Omg, I never knew such a thing existed JPX! Huh.

Especially because I am ALSO Netflix's bitch. I had Moonrise Kingdom and Silver Linings Playbook in my house for eight months before I finally watched them.

PS - so happy you enjoyed this! I loved it!

Ha, you guys are cracking me up with Netflix shennanigans. It's like you're just helping them out with storage issues. And paying them to let you help them out...
