Treachery

(2013) **

Henry, a womanizing alcoholic, and his girlfriend are invited to his soon-to-be-married best friend’s remote cabin. Henry’s friend also invites Henry’s estranged son and girlfriend. Henry, who is driven by status over happiness, is unhappy with his son who does not wish to go to law school and would rather begin “real life”. This has caused a bitter divide between the two. Following a heavy rainstorm, the 5 spend an extended weekend together where unpleasant truths and hurts are exposed.

There’s really not much to say about this film. The poster is very misleading although I suppose that the raging storm shown throughout the film is supposed to symbolize the “storm” going on inside of the cabin. The acting was, for the most part, solid (“Henry” was played by Michael Biehn) but I would consider this more of an 'uncomfortable' movie than anything else. At times I felt like I was in a therapy session with my patients. There is nothing wrong with this film but there’s not much to it. At 75 minutes it made for good late night viewing.

It sounds similar to another film I watched in a Horrorthon gone past of which the name escapes Me right now.

I'm sure 'Mama' will get reviewed, Pel-Per!

Agreed, AC. Knowing I'm not going to watch a ton of movies I definitely can't spend time on an "Eh."

Ha, we should start compiling a list of sub-80 minute movies just for such occasions. Those are Horrorthon gold.

I totally agree. Just yesterday I was looking for a good (or not so good) short horror film to watch.
