From geekology, Ah, the Atari 2600. Just thinking about it brings a tear to my eye as I flashback to a simpler time -- when games were basic, graphics were no-frills, and seeing a naked woman would have probably killed me. There's not too much information about this cake, except it depicts an Atari 2600 joystick, is completely edible, and was made by a pastry chef named Lisa. That and I want to eat it. I call the red button! And the stick as long as it's not a turd.

i could spend 3 hours after school playing space invaders. i wonder what my life would be like if i had been doing homework or playing sports or listening to music instead.
That's the thing, I just can't get nostalgiac for the 2600. While I only enjoy the old-school games at this stage in my life, the 2600 was just awful in every way.
I picked up the Atari Flashback system, which came preloaded with 20 Atari games. I played it once or twice, quickly became bored with it, and it's been sitting in a drawer ever since.
Sure, but did it come with Math Fun?
I haven't really done a big revisit of the 2600, so I can't say. I did play Adventure recently and was delighted to find I could still make my little square run circles around the dragons. But that damn bat!
It's Surround that I'd really like to play again.

I have a Macintosh "Atari 2600" emulator program, with virtual copies of all the cartridges (including the ActiVision cartridges). You can play them full-screen on any Mac, using the keyboard or a USB game controller.
I especially like to play Superman, Ghostbusters, and Skiing.
The "Superman" game was especially dependent on that awful "BAZZ" sound effect that the 2600 used occasionally in between the bleeps and bloops.
i bought a 2600 on ebay a few years ago. turns out berserk still rules, but becomes tiresome after about 3 minutes of gameplay. discs of tron is great, but it pales in comparison to the arcade version.
overall, it's cooler to say, "yeah, i've got a 2600" than it is to actually play one.
speaking of old school games, the california guys went on a big Pac-Man kick about a year ago, you all may remember. last night, i played x-box pac-man. anyone tried it? it's the best of any version of pac man in existence.
