I love it when people are stupid
From geekology, This is a picture of a piece of meat gristle from a diner in Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria. A patron was about to eat said meat puck when he noticed it read "Allah". After ransacking the kitchen, an additional three Allah steaks were found.
The meat was boiled and then fried before being served, owner Kabiru Haliru told newspaper Weekly Trust.
"When the writings were discovered there were some Islamic scholars who come and eat here and they all commented that it was a sign to show that Islam is the only true religion for mankind," he said.
Okay, I think you may have gone off the deep end there. I fail to see how Allah gristle indicates Islam is the only religion for mankind. An Allah cheesesteak sure, but gristle?
Hit the link for the BBC article, which also links to two related stories, one of a fish with Allah on it's side, and one of a tomato. And I thought Christians were the only ones that went bonkers over toast and potato chip omens.

This was my big laugh for the day.
If God wanted to make his/her/its presence known, wouldn't he just print a message on all the traffic signs and webpages and TVs. Like everything in the world would read "This is GOD, I am real, and the Lutherans are right." Case closed. We all go to a Lutheran church tomorrow, no fucking chips, water stains, or pieces of gristle needed.
mmm, tasty religious meat gristle! just the news item i needed to get me to simultaneously renounce vegetarianism and agnosticism.
What if you ate an Allah gristle with a Virgin Mary chip? Would the universe collapse in upon itself?
LOL, AC.
My mother used to get mad at me for traveling around the country to attend concerts. She once said to me, "You'll drop anything and go anywhere to see these dumb bands play, but you wouldn't move a muscle if a there was a Jesus sighting in the next town over." I told her she was correct and that music was my religion, and she said I was a heathen.
Way to stick to your priorities Whirlygirl!
The closest I've ever come to a religious experience was a Primal Scream concert in Spain.
I don't see the word "Allah" in the gristle. Can anyone? Maybe it was merely a polite way of avoiding eating the disgusting food.
About four years ago I was in New Mexico, and I was photographing a church when this woman came out, asked me into the church and began telling me the history of it and her experiences there as a child. I'm not religious, but it was still very interesting to me from a historical standpoint and personal account. However, she lost me when she tried getting me to see a miracle. On the altar was a doll in a glass box. According to this woman if you stood on the left side of the church you could see the Virgin Mary doing something, I don’t remember what exactly, in the creases of the dolls dress. If you then stood on the right side of the church you were supposed see the Virgin doing something different in the creases. The woman just kept saying isn’t it a miracle. I never saw it, but eventually lied to get here to stop
I mean, "get her to stop."
Here's my favorite part (from the BBC article):
"A vet told the newspaper the words 'defied scientific explanation'.
'Supposing only one piece of meat was found then it would be suspicious, but given the circumstances there is no explanation,' Dr Yakubu Dominic said."
First of all, a vet? "There is nothing in my vast store of scientific knowledge regarding shooting horses and shoving big pills down a cat's throat that can explain this."
Second of all, let me try to explain the multiple pieces of holy meat: they're all slices from the same slab of nasty meat, with the same internal pattern of Arabic-looking Allah gristle. There.
woohoo, our very own octo solved the allah gristle mystery!
sounds like the premise for an exciting new two minute mystery or encyclopedia brown story.
Oddly enough I attended at library book sale in Vermont a few weeks ago and I picked up an almost complete set of Encyclopedia Brown books from the 70s.
must borrow!
I loved E. Brown! Nice purchase JPX.
