More on that Clash of the Titans remake
FRom darkhorizons, Louis Leterrier ("The Incredible Hulk") talked with ECranLarge about the early stages of his new project - the "Clash of the Titans" remake.
The good news is that he's a big fan of the previous work and sounds like he wants to honor it. He called director Stephen Norrington ("Blade," "LXG") who was reluctantly attached and asked his permission to take over helming duties.
Leterrier says the film will not be shot green screen or CG-stylized ala "300", saying "it will be photo realistic" and much of it will serve as a homage to stop-motion pioneer Ray Harryhausen who was responsible for the unforgettable work on the 1981 original.
He confirms that the Kraken will definitely be returning, but also says there will be differences - namely setting up the film as the first in a potential franchise using Perseus as the hero to take on other Greek mythological stories.
The aim is to do the story with a new point of view, not a direct remake but a new version - much like his "Hulk" and Ang Lee's "Hulk" are different takes on the same character.
As for the status, he's working with Lawrence Kasdan on the script right now so the project remains a while off. No mention if the acclaimed Medusa sequence (seen below) will be redone:
