Script Left at Beverly Hills Talent Agency Blown Up By Police

From slashfilm, A new screenplay blew up in Los Angeles Thursday. Literally. In an almost absurdest twist of events, a Los Angeles bomb squad blew up a briefcase that an aspiring screenwriter left at a Beverly Hills Talent Agency in the hopes someone would read the script inside. The man left the case in the lobby, a security guard moved it out back, and the unmanned case was then reported to police. All of the adjoining office buildings were evacuated and the bomb squad destroyed the case. Inside was a laptop computer and the script in question.

Mike Myers Signs On For Austin Powers 4

From cinemablend, This is just sad. Much like Eddie Murphy, I think Myers actually still has the capacity to be funny, but has gotten to a point where he realizes that he doesn't actually have to try in order to rake in the cash. To be honest, I'm surprised that it's taken this long for him to officially sign on and for the project to be put in motion as Goldmember made more money domestically than any other film in the franchise.

Tons of Dark Knight Rises stuff (spoilers removed)

From huffingtonpost, By now, with all the detailed footage that paparazzi have captured on the city street set, Christopher Nolan and the producers of "The Dark Knight Rises" must just desperately want to get out of Pittsburgh. Unfortunately for them, we now know what their getaway vehicles might look like, too.

Then again, they are pretty sweet looking rides.

Major filming on Christopher Nolan's star-studded final Batman epic was done over the weekend in the Steel City, including chase scenes caught on tape by gathered onlookers. Revealing bits and pieces were caught with amateur cameras, including some up close looks at Batman's trusty [BLANK]. It's a big of a monstrosity, though it should look pretty intense and advanced once special effects are added.

Also getting sizable screen time is the army of [BLANKS] that have been prowling Pittsburgh's streets over the past few weeks, as well as some detailed footage of Anne Hathaway's Catwoman stunt double.

Box office report: 'Apes' stays in first with $27.5 mil, and 'The Help' opens strongly to $25.5 mil

From ew [excerpt], In a crowded field that featured four new movies, last week’s winner, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, managed to keep its top spot on the box-office chain by recruiting $27.5 million. Fox’s sci-fi action film dropped 50 percent in its second weekend. That’s a decent hold, as most summer action flicks decline 55 to 60 percent. Apes will cross the $100 million mark today and has already surpassed its relatively modest $90 million production budget. As a result, it’s looking likely that we’ll be seeing more of Caesar the chimpanzee (and less of the human race) in the future.

Not far behind was The Help, which surprised the industry with a substantial $25.5 million. Disney released the PG-13 drama on Wednesday in an attempt to build buzz heading into the weekend. That strategy seems to have paid off. The Help, based on Kathryn Stockett’s bestselling novel and starring Viola Davis, Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer, and Bryce Dallas Howard, grossed a combined $9.9 million on Wednesday and Thursday — boosting its five-day total to $35.4 million. It also garnered a rare A+ rating from CinemaScore audiences, which means the film should be benefiting from exceptional word of mouth. Adult women were the driving force behind the $25 million movie’s success this weekend. According to Disney, 74 percent of the audience was female and 60 percent was over the age of 35.

Batman’s New Vehicle Revealed in ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Set Photo

From slashfilm, Ross Petrocelli just posted a photo on Twitter of a new vehicle being towed into the Wabash Tunnel in Pittsburgh, where filming is underway for The Dark Knight Rises. The vehicle appears to be a completely new addition to Batman’s batcave, and you’ll see what I mean when you see the photo. I understand that some of you want to avoid any and all plot points, so I’m keeping the image and discussion after the jump. That said, I’m sure this new vehicle will be featured in the movie trailers, and toys of it will be sitting on the store shelves at Target and Toys R Us months leading up until release, so it will probably be hard to avoid or miss.

15 Of The Most Confusing Films Ever Made

From popcrunch, Most films are pretty linear and easy to follow in their story telling. Others are muddled, but make sense when you think about them — like Memento. But some, some are designed to bewilder, obfuscate, and confuse. These 15 films are all varying degrees of head-scratchers. Some you can pick apart with a bit of work, some you are deliberately impossible to understand, but all are worth the effort of the attempt. Oh yeah, spoilers.

#6 Mulholland Drive

Pretty much any film by David Lynch belongs on this list, but lets bundle most of them up in with Mulholland Drive, which is possibly his most acclaimed work. Lets face it, barring maybe Elephant Man and Dune, Lynch’s work is uniquely surrealist, and hard to follow regardless of how well you understand his corpus of productions. Lynch has specifically avoided offering explanations of the goings on in Mulholland Drive, instead intentionally wanting viewers and critics to create their own opinions. Non-linear, bewildering, and inter-cut with seemingly unrelated chunks, it’s hard to follow even at the best of times, yet remains a powerful and influential film.

The 'Friday The 13th' Kill Count Infographic

From geekology, This is a comprehensive infographic detailing all of Jason Vorhees' victims throughout the 'Friday the 13th' movie franchise. As you can see unless you're the world's worst counter or have zero spatial awareness, he's killed a lot of people. But fear not, they were all bad people. "No they weren't." They weren't? Then why'd he do it? "You see, as a kid Jason went to summer camp and all the kids there..." *sobbing* Please don't bring up summer camp around me. God, they're lucky I'm not a serial killer. Or am I? I'm not, FBI please take note.

'The Dark Knight Rises' vs. the Internet: How has a culture of leaks changed the moviegoing experience?

From ew, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial opened in theaters on June 11, 1982. It was still playing in theaters one year later. On one hand, that kind of theatrical run is unthinkable today. Too many things have changed in Hollywood: The rise of home video as a cultural phenomenon and an economic necessity, the frontloaded release schedule that values opening-weekend gross over anything else, the rising ticket prices that have essentially eradicated any incentive to see a film more than once in theaters. But in a sense, the modern moviegoing experience isn’t so different. People saw E.T. one year and were still talking about it one year later. Today, the equation has flipped: First, we talk about movies for a full year in advance; then, we finally see the movie, and the conversation essentially stops.

It helps to remember that, in a weird way, the biggest movies of summer 2011 aren’t coming out until 2012. The internet has regularly buzzed all summer with leaked images from next year’s The Dark Knight Rises. Some of these images have been official: The famously secretive Christopher Nolan decided to grant sneak peeks at the villainous Bane and the maybe-villainous-but-probably-just-amoral Catwoman. Some of the leaks were less official: TMZ just posted video footage of Anne Hathaway’s stunt double accidentally crashing into an IMAX camera. Meanwhile, next year’s Spider-Man reboot dominated the conversation at Comic-Con. And two of the biggest movies of the summer — Captain America and Thor — were essentially advertisements for a film that isn’t coming out until next year.
