Hey! We have fresh fruits and vegetables! And three-ish months of 70+ weather....and...hmmm, definitely have mosquitoes...AND...
DAMMIT!
Meanwhile, in Southern CA, we get no mosquitoes (yay), good produce (yes!), 70+ degree weather (except the + there includes 90+ and sometimes 100+ degree weather), and relentless sunshine (and relentlessness, like +, can include a fair amount of abuse).
And you left out no humidity! Summers in the NE can be great, but there's that nasty humidity. Which mosquitoes love.
Oh, it's all a mixed bag. In the summertime our house hosts lots of tiny, superfast spiders.
I've noticed some unusually scary spiders recently now that you mention it. I always want to immediately destroy all traces of them but Lauren stops me, pointing out that they kill other undesirable insects. Fortunately our cat Rowan (also known as Roaster, Pork Chop, Porkins or Bertha) decides for us by eating them.
it's 45 degrees here in boston at the moment.
bugwise, so far this "spring" we've had a wicked big daddy (or mommy) longlegs that has since disappeared (perhaps eaten by cat chewy aka charkin aka little guy aka choo choo) and one hellaweird millipede thingy with a million legs. husband trapped it and i put it outside. despite the weather and the millipede, i am only jealous of west coasters because of the dandy warhols release party in sf may 5th.
