(2013) ****
The reclusive Parker family adhered to a unique fundamentalist religious tradition for many generations, but the most peculiar of their familial observances remained hidden from their small community until the consequences of a flood threaten to bring their secret out into the open.
Thanks to JPX for finding this disturbing and effective film, and for not giving away too much in his review. The less you know about this one the better. This is the rare film where the feeling of horror comes not from violence or gore (though there is certainly some of both) but from human behavior. Sounds like the Spanish original, which Catfreeek reviewed, may be more gory and violent, and I'll have to remember to add it to the queue for Horrorthon 2014.
First rule of Horrorthon is: watch horror movies. Second rule of Horrorthon is: write about it. Warn us. Tempt us. The one who watches the most movies in 31 days wins. There is no prize.

I want to add this one to my next year list as well.
I definitely achieved no height this year!
I'll have to make a note to watch this and its original next year.
Horrorthon's over! I can't believe it!
Watch the remake first - the original apparently spoils things early on.
I'm looking forward to this one.
I look forward to this one, too. Nice point about human behavior horror -- that's the kind that stays with you longer.
