Most Likely to Die

Image result for most likely to die

(2016) * ½

The night before a high school’s 10-year reunion, the yearbook kids get together to have a pre-reunion party.  But, oh no!  There’s a killer on the loose!  The yearbook kids get killed off one by one, in a fashion remarkably similar to their stand out, "most likely to… whatever” status from the yearbook.  Which, makes you think, is one of them actually the killer????

This movie is 80 minutes but took me a week to watch.  4 minutes here, 7 minutes there.  Basically, each time I felt it was an insult to what humanity is capable of creating, I had to turn it off for a while.

It’s filled with red herrings, and by the end, the real killer (who ironically I would have voted least likely to be the killer), is the one with no motivation whatsoever, so he has to deliver a brief monologue wherein a backstory gives him justification for becoming a serial killer.

It gets a couple points for the serial killer’s outfit – very cool, even if it is too theatrical.  And, at 80 minutes, it doesn’t overstay its welcome.

I got angry just reading that review! I hate movies where they "swerve" you by making the killer the one with seemingly no motivation. Scream 2 was like that as I recall.

Trevor, you get five stars for persistence! Does this movie qualify for so/bad-it's-good status?
