Mickey Rourke apologizes for trashing "Passion Play" and Megan Fox

Worstpreview, A few days ago, NY Mag approached Mickey Rourke and asked him about his upcoming movie "Passion Play," which is directed by his good friend Mitch Glazer.

The actor called the movie "terrible," adding that it's getting a limit release "because it's not very good." When asked whether he still thinks that his co-star Megan Fox is "one of the most talented actresses of all time," Rourke replied smirking: "that I've worked with."

NY Mag now caught up with Rourke again, but this time, the actor took the opportunity to apologize for his statements. "When I talked to you, I was at a party. It was loud and crowded, I was in a sh*tty mood and I was trying to get rid of your reporter," he said. "Mitch is one of my best friends since we were kids. I loved working with him and would do it again tomorrow. I don't know why I said that stupid sh*t. I love Mitch, I love Megan. My bad."

Early Thor reviews are positive

There are a bunch of Thor reviews out there and all are generally positive. Here's one from Variety,"Neither the star pupil nor the dunce of the Marvel superhero-to-screen class, "Thor" delivers the goods so long as butt is being kicked and family conflict is playing out in celestial dimensions, but is less thrilling during the Norse warrior god's rather brief banishment on Earth. With Aussie hunk Chris Hemsworth impressive in the lead and helmer Kenneth Branagh investing the dramatic passages with a weighty yet never overbearing Shakespearean dimension, pic looks sure to reap big B.O. on the strength of its ready-made audience, but faces a tougher time attracting viewers for whom this type of fare is the exception rather than the rule."

Box office

From ew [excerpt], Rio trounced the horror sequel Scream 4 and soared to a $40 million opening, according to studio estimates...Scream 4, the first movie in the horror series in 11 years, had to settle for second place with a disappointing $19.3 million. For any other $40 million horror film, that result would be viewed as a decent start, but most industry experts were expecting much more from the Wes Craven project. The Dimension Films release fell far short of the debuts of Scream 2 ($32.9 million) and Scream 3 ($34.7 million), and well behind projections heading into the weekend. The film will almost certainly finish its run as the lowest-grossing entry in the franchise. Scream 4 apparently had trouble attracting new young fans, as only 54 percent of its audience was under the age of 25 — a low figure for a horror film. And the film’s R rating meant that younger teenagers had to get their scares from the PG-13 Insidious instead. CinemaScore moviegoers gave Scream 4 a mediocre “B-” grade.

Marmaduke almost goes "there"

My radar is always scanning for scatological humor in the funny pages. Although finding it in our beloved (i.e. awful) comics is as rare as a Republican saying something I agree with, every so often some poop humor makes it into the pages. We've previously seen examples with Garfield and Dennis the Menace and today I give you Marmaduke. Okay, okay, it's not technically about Marmaduke's (surely enormous) bowel movements, but we're getting closer. I won't rest until Marmaduke's owner (after decades I still don't know the name of any of the characters except the titular canine) steps in a pile of Marm some day, but until that time comes (and it will, damnit!) let's enjoy some tangential animal defecating humor. Stupid Marmaduke.

Nicolas Cage arrested

From ew, Nicolas Cage was arrested in New Orleans and charged with domestic abuse, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness after an altercation with his wife, Alice Kim, on Dumaine Street in the French Quarter late Friday night. A rep for the 47-year-old actor did not immediately return EW’s request for comment. The New Orleans Police Department has issued the following statement detailing the couple’s argument.

“[Cage] and his wife were standing in front of a residence that he insisted was the property the couple was renting. She disagreed, and Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her to what he believed was the correct address. There were no visible signs of injury on his wife’s arm. The actor then began striking vehicles and later attempted to get into a taxi. At that point, an officer who had been flagged down by onlookers drove up on the couple, immediately observed that Cage was heavily intoxicated, and ordered him out of the cab, which prompted Cage to start yelling. The officers subsequently took Cage to Central Lock-Up.”

Lindsay Lohan will be Lana Lang in the Superman reboot

Yep, it's true, the unstable Lohan has been cast as the chick who won't give Clark the time of day in high school. Baseline Studio System provides this plot summary, "A young reporter named Clark Kent roams the world covering various news stories. When he is compelled to use his secret powers to intervene in a crisis in West Africa, he returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and the hero he was born to be."

The first still from 'Shark Night 3D" shows promise

From worstpreviews, Relativity Media just sent us the first photo from the upcoming "Shark Night 3D," giving us a look at Sara Paxton (Last House on the Left) coming face-to-face with a shark.

The story revolves around seven men and women who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana's Gulf area. When their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks, unheard of in freshwater lakes, they soon discover that the sharks are part of a sick, greedy plan on the part of several locals.

In addition to Paxton, the new movie stars Dustin Milligan (Slither), Chris Carmack ("The OC"), Joel David Moore (Avatar) and Katharine McPhee (The House Bunny). It is directed by David R. Ellis (Snakes on a Plane) and is set to hit conventional and 3D theaters on September 2nd.

We're halfway to Horrorthon 2011!

Well, I had to pick Zack up from daycare again today because he was pulling kids' hair. Since I've got a surprise stuck-at-home moment (he's napping), I thought I'd throw this out there... today is the halfway point between one Horrorthon and the next. Moo hoo ha ha.

China: No More Wonky Time-Travel Plots In Television Shows

From geekology, China, in an attempt to curb inaccurate portrayals of the country's past, has created a list of guidelines for television programs that discourage the use of time-travel in plots. So yeah, no more going back and changing history. The Great Wall was originally built as a tape-measure for my peen AND THAT'S FINAL.

"In a statement dated March 31, the State Administration for Radio, Film & Television said that TV dramas that involve characters traveling back in time "lack positive thoughts and meaning." The guidelines discouraging this type of show said that some "casually make up myths, have monstrous and weird plots, use absurd tactics, and even promote feudalism, superstition, fatalism and reincarnation."

The guidelines, which fell short of an outright ban of such dramas, seem to have come in response to a series of popular programs about protagonists drifting back to ancient times. For instance, in "Palace," one of China's hottest TV series, a woman falls in love with a Qing dynasty painting, travels back in time and then falls in love with several princes."

Oh man, I fell in love with a painting once. It was a nude. I used to visit the museum everyday on my break just to see it. Think Pierce Brosnan in the 'Thomas Crown Affair', but with more trying to nonchalantly masturbate with a sack lunch in his lap.
