According to French fan site JamesBond-Fr.com, Lamont says that producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have held several meetings with writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade—most likely to brainstorm ideas for the Bond 22 script , and most importantly it will be a direct continuation of the events started in "Casino Royale".
Meanwhile speaking to USA Today to promote the DVD and Blu-ray release of "Casino Royale", that film's director Martin Campbell was asked about helming the next one. He previously had stated that he has no interest, but it looks like he may have changed his mind - albeit only a little: "After 'GoldenEye', I was asked to do subsequent Bonds, but I declined because it felt as if I'd be repeating myself. But this one is based on a Bond that's more interesting. To be honest, I would just say I'd never say never."
He also confirmed that a second DVD of Casino Royale (likely to match the 'Ultimate Edition' releases) will eventually appear with deleted scenes and commentary.

The real point here is how a good franchise generates media hunger for buzz. Listen to this:
"...official pre-production is definitely in the beginning stages."
"...have held several meetings..."
Wow.
