Perfect casting; Jason Statham in "GI Joe"

From worstpreviews, IESB, the same site that broke the news about Mark Wahlberg being looked at to play Duke in the upcoming "GI Joe" movie and that Mark Sommers is attached to direct, is now reporting another piece of casting news. Apparently, Jason Statham (Crank) is being considered for the role of the British Action Man character.

The site adds that the original Skip Woods script was written specifically for Wahlberg and Statham and that the final script will use certain elements from the original alongside the Elliott/Lovett storylines.

The goal is to make "GI Joe" international to appeal to foreign markets, but the characters will still be based on the original cartoons, toys and comics. Stay tuned.

Really not sure how to take this one. Jason Statham did just star in a Uwe Boll movie, so anything's a step up. But this Action Man thing. Is the British market really such a draw? When they made the Transformers movie, they left out Spanner, the witty Cockney robot.
