From AICN, We've heard for a long time that Lexi Alexander (HOOLIGANS) will direct with Ray Stevenson filling in Thomas Jane's army boots. I believe you heard Alexander's name attached here for the first time, shortly after we broke Jane's departure from the franchise.
Lionsgate now confirms it all with an announcement that the film begins production in October, pitting Frank Castle against a mobster in NYC... and Jigsaw, they say.
I'm really interested to see what Alexander can do with this film. She's got a hard edged style and a willingness to go pretty brutal. Hopefully this one works out. Thoughts?

My thoughts are that this character isn't very interesting. Some c-book writers have managed some good stuff, but as a movie this is never going to play as anything other than an iteration of Death Wish.
