Gary Busey files for bankruptcy, cites $1 million in debts and less than $50,000 in assets

From nydailynews, Gary Busey, the man who once said "Failing stands for ‘Finding an Important Lesson, Inviting Needed Growth,’" may be in the midst of a major learning spell.

The 67-year-old "Lethal Weapon" actor filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in California on Tuesday, citing up to $1 million in debts and less than $50,000 in assets, TMZ.com reported.

Among Busey's creditors are the IRS, lawyers, the UCLA Medical Center and Carla Loeffler, who sued him for allegedly attacking her at a Tulsa airport last May, according to the gossip site, which obtained a copy of his bankruptcy filing.

Busey, who once was nominated for an Oscar for his leading turn in 1978's "The Buddy Holly Story," has been hard at work -- on the reality TV circuit. He notched roles on "Celebrity Rehab," "Celebrity Apprentice" and "Celebrity Wife Swap" in recent years.

"Sometimes you have to cry in the bushes to be a winner," the eccentric actor tweeted last year.

Surely the royalties he gets from The Gingerdead Man are enough to live off of!

It's a bit sad watching his life spiral out of control. Couldn't happen to an uglier guy.

Maybe if he had been nicer at Rock n Shock he would made more money. He showed up way late with a shitty attitude. He actually urged me and Abby to move out of the way so he could look at some girls ass. A little honey catches a whole bunch more flies Mr. B.

In addition to everything else, he's probably my least favorite Lethal Weapon "heavy." I just watched the first one again the other day, and of course it can't be beat, but Busey's kind of random casting and he doesn't really convey much menace (the way those South African fuck-os in the second one or Jet Li in the fourth one do).
