Where's Captain Stubing when you need him? The ship from ‘Love Boat’ is about to be demolished
From MSN, The Pacific Princess cruise ship that served as the backdrop to corny jokes and cheesy romance on "The Love Boat" is set to be scrapped. The folks over at E! News translated a story from Italy La Repubblica that said the ship has been sold to a Turkish demolition company for approximately $3 million. The ship, shown here when it was exciting and new, was built in 1971 and sailed for the cruise line between 1975 and 2002. Our hearts go out to Doc, Isaac and Captain Stubing during what we can only imagine is a very difficult time for them.

God, that show was ridiculous. The epitome of the "laugh track" show. When a show is on film and yet still has a laugh track, they really are treating you like a fucking idiot. "See? It's funny! They're laughing!" (Same remarks viz. laugh tracks on animated shows like The Flintstones. Is somebody standing next to the animator's rotoscope, watching him/her shoot frames and laughing? "Oh my God, I've been watching Fred fall on his ass for six hours...that's so funny!")
Props to the author of this piece for using the phrase "exciting and new" very adroitly.
Also, those lyrics employ some pretty awesome 'Seventies fake-funkiness/soul. "And love...won't hurt anymore." What the hell does that mean, anyway? Is this a Leonard Cohen song?
