Spider
(2002) ***1/2
Full of great actors, this movie makes you wonder why its a horror film until almost near the end. Lord Voldemort, er, I mean Ralph Fiennes gives such a great, disturbing performance, making you think that he is really is mental. "You don't go full retard" Playing a character who has acute schizophrenia, it looks like he studied well for the part. This mentally disturbed movie has other great actors such as Gabriel Byrne, Miranda Richardson, John Neville and Lynn Redgrave. It is a little slow in the beginning, then you realize that its a mommy-problem-type issue(see Ed Gein influenced movies).
Dennis, nicknamed"Spider" by mommy, has been institutionalized for twenty years now. His mind starts unraveling and he ends up recreating a childhood memory."Lets not talk about the weather all day again"Momma's baby.
