First rule of Horrorthon is: watch horror movies. Second rule of Horrorthon is: write about it. Warn us. Tempt us. The one who watches the most movies in 31 days wins. There is no prize.
I totally just sent this to the other math & science teachers at my school. We've been focusing a lot on literacy across the curriculum and Nye specifically mentions "science literacy." :-D
AWESOME. I love at around the 1:50 mark when he's talking about if an adult doesn't want to believe in evolution and live in their...and then he just searches for the right way to say idiotic world! I also didn't know that he was a student of Carl Sagan. Again - all sorts of awesome.
I love the "science literacy" point, because I imagine it scares religious parents into letting their kids learn science so they can get good jobs and take care of their parents when they're old.
I also love that he couches it as "believe in science or your world will make no sense." Such a great turf-grab, as it's religion that always claims to have all the answers.
