Fantastic Four to be getting a reboot?

It has been less than two years since the last one, but already 20th Century Fox is looking to reboot its "Fantastic Four" franchise according to IESB.net.

Despite suffering massive critical derision, both the previous 'Four' films in 2005 and 2007 took in a quite healthy $300 million worldwide. Yet having seen the numbers and acclaim that "Iron Man" and "The Dark Knight" took in last year, is it any wonder the studio is envious of that success.

The site adds that Fox wants to reboot the series in a tone described as 'less bubble gum' and more in the vein of those two previous examples.

There's a lot of problems with this idea though. Most notable is that the studio seems to have forgotten the other and more pertinent example of a reboot of a recent franchise - ie. 2008's "The Incredible Hulk". That film ended up with only $18 million more worldwide than its 2003 predecessor ($263M vs. $245M) and reviews were just as mixed with 2008's Hulk scoring a 66% & 6.2/10 vs. 2003's Hulk with a 61% & 6.2/10 score on Rotten Tomatoes.
