The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (2005)
(2005) ****
Another remake that I loved, I'm shocked! I expected to get totally disgusted with this film after being wowed by the original. This here film is great news for those of you who much prefer talkies over silent films...ahem JSP I'm referring to you. I was stunned to see that the filmmakers completely recreated the set from the original. I mean it too, it's like the entire set was preserved somewhere and they just walked into it and filmed it again. Amazing! The movie was shot in black and white, make up done like the old silent films as well. Basically it looked just like the old silent film but in better quality and it was a talkie. The creepyness of the story actually carried over a little better here since you could hear the emotion in their voices as well as seeing it. So, if the original has been beckoning you but you've avoided it because it's silent then let me recommend you try this one on for size.

Kazonk! Really? I had no idea there was a remake of this. And if they hadn't recreated the sets like you say I'd be pissed. I'll have to check this out.
It's really cool.
