I apologize in advance for stepping all over Julie's Taxes post, but I had this idea and had to get it out there.
In the vacuum of no Haiku Hump Day or Caption Contest, how about the following:
Three random pictures culled from the Internet (I recommend The Chive or Reddit for the freshest stuff), all with a random story to tell.
THE RULES:
1) Either a TV Guide review, consisting of NO MORE than three sentences, summing up the story, OR,
2) A movie preview voice-over, always beginning with the words, "In a world..."
Here's my first 3 offerings...
(shameless Stan-JSP self-promotion)
Yup. Have at it.
(It's a high school.)
I've been absent for too long. Hopefully this signals a return. I'll check as often as I can for updates, and maybe a winner for next week? (squinting in fear of rejection)
First rule of Horrorthon is: watch horror movies. Second rule of Horrorthon is: write about it. Warn us. Tempt us. The one who watches the most movies in 31 days wins. There is no prize.

Dancing with the not so Biggest Losers. Several chunkies who just couldn't stick to the diet are reunited in a full ring dance off. It's Pandemonium!
Picture 3:
Parkland High, episode: Han gets handy. Leia puts Han in his place when he gets a little too "handy" at the spring fling. Luke sets Chewy up on a blind date.
Picture 2:
In a world of unperceptive people, where even the most radically different go unnoticed, where boredom instigates suicide like lemmings, one man is on a mission. Derwin Peters is about to change everything, he is Bone Head! Starts Friday in a theater near you.
I think Derwin Peters in Bone Head just ended the contest. Fucking HILARIOUS! Hoping everyone else gets the fever - but hot diggety, Catfreeek - you nailed it!
Aaaw, thanks Stan so friggin' happy to see you on here even if everyone else is MIA.
10 MOVIE-Biography
“Timmy’s Trombone: A Story of Love and Courage” (2012)
Timothy Andrews was born with a unique appendage. Follow this heart lifting tale as Timothy struggles to find his place in a world that can sometimes be cruel to those who are different. Lionel Barrymore, Ruth Hussey. (1hr., 45min.)
Tuesday night on ABC's Heroes in Your 'Hood:
Marvin and the team visit Harper County, Oklahoma, where a young man was chosen by desitiny to protect his home from a dimensional vortex magically lodged in an evil trombone. Featured: the hero's public appeal for the community to adopt his preferred name (The Mighty Bone) over the currently more popular one (Captain Fathead).
Wednesday night on Fox's Parsec High:
"A Dark Time for Parkland" -- The school's infamous punk band Bad Feeling get more than they bargain for after accidentally blowing the Fighting Rebels mascot out of an airlock during a prank. How will they find another Rancor before the Life Day games?
(From the Don LaFontaine Lost Tapes Collection)
"In a world where Titans clash for our amusement, an all-out brawl ensues... Wait, you gotta tell me, the lizard guy wins, right? I mean, that kicks so much ass -- oh shit! Is that a ninja? I totally didn't notice that bastard! Well, now I don't know..."
As every one of these entries will attest, I think this contest has real potential - the brevity of Haiku Hump Day with the creativity of Caption Contest. I'm still checking this, so I'll give it to Thursday night and see who else can muster up the courage. JPX, Octo - brilliant stuff.
(And, BTW, JSP, Octo, 50Page - I'll be flying in to Eureka, CA on this day and I'll be there through the next two weekends on the Will Smith movie. I might not be able to get all the way to LA, but I'm looking at YOU, Mr. Walnut Creek...)
