Eraserhead

(1977) ****

Henry lives a bleak and depressing existence in an industrial city.  His life takes on the quality of unending nightmare when his girlfriend Mary X gives birth and Henry passively accepts responsibility for their grotesque infant.

Phew!  Really not sure how to describe Eraserhead other than to say it is extremely surreal, disturbing, twisted, and darkly humorous. Pure David Lynch. Neither Mr. AC nor I had
seen Eraserhead before and weren't initially sure it would qualify as horror, but it totally does.  A great way to wrap up (sniff) Horrorthon 2013.

I'm so glad you checked this out, great (weird) stuff! I bet Mr. AC loved it! Definitely one of the strangest movies I have ever seen.

In heaven, everything is fine....

I love pretty much everything David Lynch but it took me 3, maybe 4 viewings of Eraserhead before fully appreciating it. Now I want to see it again!

Still haven't made it all the way through Inland Empire. Has anyone?

I stopped watching David Lynch movies after they started becoming nonsensical fever-dreams.

"Grotesque infant" indeed! (Shiver!)

Excellent closing choice, AC. It really is a nightmare made flesh.
