The Visit
(2015) ***1/2
Oh ye of little faith abandon not your quest to find a viable M. Night Shyamalan flick for one has been delivered!
Becca, a budding young documentary film aficionado & her younger brother Tyler are sent off for a week to stay with the grandparents they've never met. All seems to be cozy in their small town country home until nana & pop-pop start acting strange. With mom away on a cruise and seemingly no way out the kids delve deeper into the issues of their grandparents trying to make sense of their bizarre behavior. Interesting and captivating from start to finish. The kids are great, not at all annoying or polished and fake like some child actors can be. The story is revealed at a good pace as each occurrence of strange behavior is explained of by one grandparent or another. Still, there seems to be something that just isn't right. There is a definite "What a twist!" moment in classic M. Night fashion, let's face it if there wasn't one we would all be disappointed. Biddy safe but still packs a good grip with the prospect of terror looming over their heads.
Ha! I drew first blood! Horrorthon!

Hooray, I'm glad to hear that this is good! I lost faith years ago in M. Night but the ads for this look like a return to form. Congrats on getting the first review up!
Well done Catfreeek! First blood indeed!
Woo Hoo, Cat! Sounds like fun. Jake saw The Sixth Sense over the summer and I remember thinking, "man, what a bummer that M. Night sucks now." Glad to hear this delivered.
I gotta see this, and for the record I do like the movies of the Shama-llama-mahn! Good work missy!
Yay! This does look good :)
It's so true that everyone would be disappointed if a big twist wasn't involved. Unfortunately Shyamalan will have to adhere to that formula for the rest of his career. Glad to hear this one is good.
Okay I haven't seen this but I had a Big Twist prediction that I will post here for bragging rights in the event I'm correct:
Big Twist -- the Mom is in on it and knows everything!
Now that that's out of the way, congrats to Cat for first blood! I had aspirations to watch and review a movie Wednesday night but they were dashed by my lack of stamina.
