From cinemablend, There’s been no shortage of Barbarella casting rumors over the last few months after Robert Rodriguez added his name to the proceedings, and the beauty school gossip doesn’t really appear to be calming down anytime soon. I’ve heard rumblings about every man, woman, and child from Tara Reid to General Oliver North as being possible Jane Fonda replacements, yet I’m couldn't help but doubt the veracity of all the previous prattle. Thankfully, it now appears we may now have a credible prediction.
According to JoBlo, Rodriguez lady friend Rose McGowan has been shooting Barbarella test footage. These rehearsal takes are most likely either trial footage to show to the studio or a leaked homemade porno, but it is certainly possible that McGowan is actually testing for the film. Does she really need to test though? She's Rodriguez's girlfriend after all, if she wants in the movie all she has to do is withhold certain things as a way of convincing him.
To me, this seems like a very good casting movie. McGowan has proven herself as an actress, and she’s certainly busty enough for the role. Wait, that was probably a little crude. She has the right boobular assets to embody Barbarella. That’s better. Supposedly, this is to begin shooting by the end of the year; so, expect some of this casting mess to get sorted out real soon.

YES, YES and YES again. Finally. Back when it was gonna be Drew Barrymore I thought "ehh...I guess." I didn't hear about Tara Reid until just now, which is a good thing because I'd probably have to do something to stop that from happening.
It's silly as hell, but I have a major soft spot for the original. I want to see the right girl in those boots.
