Our Favorite Old-School Arcade Games

From EW,

Donkey Kong (1981)
These days, Mario is the top banana in the House of Nintendo. When the plucky plumber appeared in his first videogame in '81, though, let’s not forget it was the big ape who got top billing. Sure, Donkey Kong was the villain and Mario the hero in this game. But, as my childhood doodles will attest, I’ve always rooted for DK.

I made it through about half before getting annoyed.

I remember thinking Gauntlet was the greatest game ever made but now I find zero joy in playing it. You keep thinking that something will actually happen when you clear a board but it never does.

I'm sorry, you can't have a list of fave arcade games and leave off Tempest. This article is disqualified.

Although I'd completely forgotten about Elevator Action. That's pretty funny.

I agree about Gauntlet. Seems like a winner but quickly comes down to bland, joyless numbers. Like the huge numbers of ghosts waiting on the other side of the wall to kill you.

Oh yeah, and that War Games chip voice saying "Wizards life is running out." Just thinking of it makes me want to find one of those games so I can flip it off.
