Sigh. Our next president. Wanna bet?

"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution. But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And thats what we need to do is amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than trying to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family."

I apologize for throwing politics into Horrorthon but this just made my blood boil...

No way he'll win - the fucker doesn't believe in evolution!

Just based on his name I don't think he'll win. "President Huckabee." Sounds ridiculous.

That is an aggravating, terrifying thing for him to say though. Doesn't he know that changing the word of the living God is much easier nowadays, what with the internet?

And who is going to decide what God's standards are? You? The Bible? Your priest? Tom Cruise?

The organized, powerful religious right put their full support behind him. Not believing in evolution is sadly considered a strength. Be very afraid...

By the way, that picture might be the scariest thing ever posted on Horrorthon.

I'm with Octo, we could never have a "President Huckabee", it just sounds stupid.

Um, are there any animation model building jobs outside the US? Because if this guy gets elected, we have to emigrate and fast.

There is a number of people in the world that think what Huckabee said is brilliant...that's what's scary.

I agree, if not for anything else, his name's going to bury him.

Fuck "the family."

God, how I tire of listening to politicians preach about "the family."

Hitchens bee-rilliant assessment of Huckabee:

http://www.slate.com/id/2180159/

Here's a sample line:

"...what Article VI does not do, and was never intended to do, is deny me the right to say, as loudly as I may choose, that I will on no account vote for a smirking hick like Mike Huckabee, who is an unusually stupid primate but who does not have the elementary intelligence to recognize the fact that this is what he is. My right to say and believe that is already guaranteed to me by the First Amendment. And the right of Huckabee to win the election and fill the White House with morons like himself is unaffected by my expression of an opinion."

God, I love that man.

6 of us have commented on a political post, and we are thus far feud-free? i'm shocked. shocked i tells ya.

Meh, choosing between Hitchens and his sneering neo-con smugness and Huckabee's idiot grin isn't really very easy. I think I'll take the hemlock.

Johnny Sweatpants said...

Landshark, I'm more of a fan of Hitchens' writing style than his political views, though I admit that many of his arguments for the war are not so easy to dismiss.

Running Freak's theory is that Huckleberry is being used as a pawn to persuade the evangelicals that Romney's not so bad after all.
