I can't even figure out what this is supposed to say.
It's suppose to say, "Best wishes Suzanne
We will miss you"
The stupid store clerk was told to write, "Best wishes Suzanne" 'underneath that' "We will miss you" He took the 'underneath that' literally and put it on the cake!
Wow. That was so dumb I couldn't deduce it. Is out-dumbed the opposite of outsmarted?
'Course, "It's suppose to say" doesn't sound much smarter, but I know that was a typo.
oops!
I like that he spells it, "Under Neat". When I worked at the VA one of the veteran's referred to an old vet as having "Old Timer's Disease" because that's what he thought people were saying when they referred to "Alzheimer's Disease" It's just so perfect.
The person who takes the order is not typically the person who makes the cake. So, there is a good chance that this beauty is the result of two stupid people & not just one.
Wouldn't it be fun to go in that store and request a cake all in Klingon or something. Can you just imagine what they would transpose it into.
Good point, Cat Freeek. I know, you would think at least one of the two workers would question it, but I suppose if you only get paid $2 and hour, then you're not exactly getting paid enough to care.
So true Whirly, they treat people so badly. I haven't shopped at a corporate chain store in over 3 years. I began boycotting Wal-Mart after working there in the 90's and boycotting the rest of them after watching "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price". I only buy from independents & yes that includes all my Christmas shopping too.
There is one exception though, groceries. I have a family of 4 to feed and buying from the little guys is just way too expensive for most common items. Although, I do buy all my spices, fruits & veggies & my meats from independent local markets. Just doing my part & stickin' it to them any way I can.
I just have a hard time wrapping myself around all the Waltons on that Forbes 400 list knowing that their employees don't make enough to even provide the basics for their families.
Wow, Cat Freeek, good for you! I wish I could boycott all corporate chains, but I'm poor so it's difficult. One of my minors in college was women's studies so I used to read and watch tons of stuff on the cruelty of corporate America. I used to receive overflowing amounts of emails from the wms list serve particularly about asshole Walmart. I changed my buying habits for a time, but just couldn't keep it up, now I live in the world of ignorance is bliss, which I know isn't exactly a very good attitude to have.
I had particularly been bothered by the clothing manufacturing sweatshops in third world countries, and was going to start buying only locally made clothes. It makes a difference, but it's still contributing to the problem because the fabric and other materials used to make the clothes are still typically manufactured in a sweatshop or some American company that treats its employees like garbage.
Know matter how hard you try you can't escape the ugliness of the world, there is too much of it everywhere, so you have to pick your battles and play ignorant to the rest, otherwise, you could lose your mind. That's what works for me anyway, so I think.
It is tough to stand fast, I've given up a lot to do it. We haven't gone away on vacation in years & a night out at a restaurant is a real treat. I've learned to cook Indian, Thai, Japanese, Cuban...pretty much you name it. It's cheaper and I found out I'm pretty damn good at it too.
You're very right though, there is ugliness all around us we just have to choose our own battles. Just do whatever you can to eliminate what weighs heaviest on your conscience you know, whatever helps you sleep at night.
