Box Office

Your weekend box office:

1. Fast Five - $83.6 million, setting records for biggest opening of the year, biggest April release, and biggest opening ever for Universal. So more than one big, long-awaited victory for America this weekend.

2. Rio - $14.4 million. Cars have again proven themselves capable of taking out birds, just as they do every time I veer toward a pigeon.

3. Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family - Another $10.1 million to pad Tyler Perry's hefty Madeabosom.

4. Water for Elephants - $9.1 million worth of people wanting to see those son-of-a-bitch elephants get a good watering.

5. Prom - $5 million, which isn't so bad for a film that only cost a reasonable $8 million to make. Oversized tux rental and dinner at Olive Garden must still be as affordable as I remember them being.
