'The Grudge' is getting remade...again

From iwatchstuff, Continuing the curse of remaking Ju-on every decade or so, Ghost House Pictures and Good Universe have reportedly set about yet another version of The Grudge. The original remadeGrudge came out in 2004, back when you'd see Sarah Michelle Gellar in movies, and it's since been followed up by two sequels, the latter of those hitting not-theaters just in 2009. As with all those prior chapters, Sam Raimi is producing, and Midnight Meat Train writer Jeff Buhler is providing a script. Now the rest of us can get to the real work of re-remaking Jessica Alba's The Eye.

Seriously. Can someone come up with some new ideas, please??

I agree. I think the blue ghost stuff is played out. The remakes weren't scary so I can't imagine that a remake of a remake will fare any better.

I'm certainly not going to bat for this idea, but the part of me that remains optimistic for the sake of the argument says:

What if, like the recent Spidey movies, these rapid remakes are a good thing? There's the Remake and the Prequel and the Reboot but what if there's a new mode called the Do Over? Kind of a "Okay the last one sucked but now we know better" kind of maneuver. But the only example I've got is the recent Spidey movies. They seemed silly at the time...

I agree, Octo, it might not be a bad thing although I think horror, like comedy, changes over time and what was once terrifying is now meh.

They did a rapid reboot of The Hulk with middling results but I am still optimistic that a good Hulk film could be made.

They are currently rebooting the awful Fantastic Four films.

I wish Horror hadn't become so trendy. All this zombie hullabaloo and wimpy vampires have added such a neo-trashy-lolipop element to the genre and I hate it!

I agree, Cat. I'm so sick of vampires and zombies. I can't bring myself to watch The Walking Dead even though everyone says its awesome.

The Walking Dead is awesome. You've got to give it a chance.

That said, I'm prepared to laugh heartily at whoever has the guts to review "Vamire Academy" in this year's 'thon.

Gotta say JPX, you are missing out on walking dead.
