Gore Verbinski to Remake "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty"

From worstpreviews, Director Gore Verbinski, the director "Pirates of the Caribbean" and the new Johnny Depp movie "Rango," has now announced his next movie which is a remake of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty."

The story will follow Walter Mitty, a wimpy comic book writer who dreams of being a hero and who suddenly finds himself caught up in an adventure trying to find the Dutch crown jewels that had been missing since World War II.

No word on who will play the lead character, but such actors as Mike Myers and Sacha Baron Cohen have been attached in the past. The screenplay is written by Steve Conrad (The Weather Man, The Karate Kid).

All this time I thought the original Mitty was like Pennies from Heaven, in that none of the fancy stuff was really happening. But the business with the Dutch jewels actually happens. Kind of like Total Recall.

I came across this factoid on Wikipedia: "Thurber once used the line 'Perhaps this will refresh your memory' to caption a cartoon in which a prosecutor shows the defendant a kangaroo."
