Only having recently fully understood why everyone was divulging their most obscure and embarassing music tastes, I am diving in, surely breaking all tenants of this contest/idea/uprising.
Therefore it is time to give you the most feel good happy time music that exists from this part of the planet. But also some more moody stuff to balance it out.
This song gets played at least 50 times on the radio every day. Normally this would make me angry. This song, is the only song ever, that will never make me angry. This song is the song that you listen to in the car because the day is just so beautiful. This is the song you scream to after having passed your driving exam. This is the song you put on full volume and dance around to in the garden.
It is sung by an Isreali woman called Yael Naim. She has a quaint french accent because she has lived there I believe. All the other songs on the album are beautiful whether they are in Hebrew,French or English. She even does a rather chilling rendition of Britney's Toxic.
YouTube it up! ( Sadly this is only the first 2 minutes and if it tickles your fancy it probably is on i-tunes/limewire/modzilla etc)
This song doesn't get played on the radio 50 times a day. Its so obscure it isn't properly on youtube! I know, I know I'm a trend setter.
Anyways, this song is mind-blowing to me, listened to in a silent room, or a hold your breath moment, the climax of this song is religious. I've sung the " God are you there part" at the top of my lungs many tmes, not being in the faintest way religious, and it makes you feel good. When you're already feeling good, or helps you purge when you're feeling shitty. This song is little like her band Frou Frou (known from the Garden State Soundtrack). In Frou frou she is silky voiced air, solo she is a passionate Hallelujah.

Yay ADP! So psyched you are in!!
*Sigh* avatar choices not coming out very well
toooooooo funny! bring back the horsie avatar dcd! i need the laughs.
and thanks for your entries adp.
got a fairly diverse and eclectic playlist building here... who are we waiting for at this point?
Anas, you can't be breaking any tenants of the "idea?", because we haven't written the European rules yet...welcome aboard! However, I live with a Swede, so if her musical taste is any indicator I am very, very afraid.
AC, just waiting for Jordan. So hold on to your hat, it should be interesting.
We're also waiting on JPX's 80's lovin' ass.
I'm also glad you caught this ADP. In case you haven't sifted through all 4000 comments this is basically a one time Horrorthon Music Club experiment. We each submit 2 songs, give them a fair listen (I urge 5 x each)and then discuss/insult each other on Friday the 13th.
I changed my mind. Let's go with this.
so much hilarity on one page:
dcd's new and rapidly rejected avatar
johnny's two new avatars
johnny's comment on his bro's musical taste.
i can't stop grinning.
JSP, actually your brother has a pass until next weeks round. So you will be able to mock him anew.
(Unless everyone wants to skip the split and have everyone do their picks at once?)
I vote skip the split and everyone submits today. I don't want to have to worry about JPX's selections all week. (Be very afraid!)
I'm just kidding. Our musical tastes overlap for the most part.
The problem I have with the avatar is that it doesn't seem to come out in the little format as well...
I can see why New Soul is played 50 times a day. It's catchy as hell!
