Bruce Campbell Talks "Evil Dead 4"
From worstpreviews, Director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man) revealed during Comic-Con that he will be working on a new installment in the "Evil Dead" franchise. Now, Bruce Campbell, who has played Ash in three previous films, has told MTV News: "When he's ready, I'm ready."
According to Campbell, he and Raimi have already discussed the new movie at length and have a basic idea of where to take Ash. Part of the plan is to factor in the aging of the character, since Ash hasn't made an appearance since 1992 in "Army of Darkness."
"Sam gets to hide behind the camera. I can't. But I think he's planning on factoring that in," Campbell revealed. "As like a major factor. It'd be a major liability, you know Ash runs out of breath or his back goes out and [stuff] like that."
Campbell feels that there is nothing wrong with an older Ash, especially since "Die Hard" and "Indiana Jones" franchises decided to bring back their stars. But one thing he feels very strongly about, is that Ash will not have a sidekick.
"I think the audience would be insulted if you did, because then you feel this obvious pressure to appeal," he said. "The beauty of the 'Evil Dead' movies is that you're only appealing to one demographic and that's people who like horror movies. And you just have to please them. You don't have to appeal to the studio. You’re already pleasing them by giving them part 4."

Man, I've still never seen Army of Darkness.
Maybe that'll be my first Horrorthon flick this year.
Army of Darkness is a mixed bag, but at least it completes Ash's story. I would recommend the "Bootleg Edition" (this film has had more releases than someone with IBS).
i think of army of darkness as a considerably sillier and less scary than the first two, but still entertaining.
jpx, speaking of ibs, may i assume you're not attending the conference in boston this weekend?
jpx doesn't do conferences (nor is he even aware of them!). Are you going?
