Spoke Too Soon-OR-Miko,Domestic Violence and Cops
Perhaps this wouldn't have happened at the Hilton in San Fran...
Last night as Miko watched the Olympics and ate his Buffalo Wings, he heard yelling from the room next to his. When I turned the TV off, I heard EVERYTHING. I thought the guy was yelling into his phone, profanities, threats, etc. THEN I heard a female voice. I called the desk to call the cops, then heard the guy threaten the women and a crash of a lamp...
I went out to the hallway, just as the women was leaving the room, and stayed in the hallway to make sure toughguy didn't leave. Upon police arrival, he started screaming at the cops (BTW, never a smart move) and saying he was alone in his room.
I pulled one of the cops aside, told him about the women (who they found smoking outside) and the crash. Turns out it WAS a lamp. Story ends with idiots kicked out of hotel, toughguy arrested, Miko filling out a statement for the police and finally, Miko cursing that his wings got cold...

Good Lord, Miko! Trouble just follows you like stink on a skunk. I wish I could be macho. The reality is that I would've turned up Nick at Nite even louder than usual to drown out the fight. Sigh.
Wow. (Knocking heavily on wood) In all my years in the hotel business I have never had to deal with anything like that. No dead bodies either. (I can't believe I'm saying this out loud - totally cursing myself.)
I'm sure we would have been interested enough in the fight to turn off the TV and put a glass to the wall. But we would have not been interested enough to talk to the cops. Our next door neighbor is drama rama all the time, cops coming over, drinking, weird transient boyfriend who sleeps in the car....it sucks. But not enough to keep us from eavesdropping.
JPX, I don't know how Macho I was...
It isn't like I knocked on the door and dragged him out. I guess I'm getting old.
(I deleted the other one, didn't say anything about JPX sucking either)
I was thinking about your comment JPX. Now I am NOT the person who believes in "everything happens for a reason" or pre-destiny, but..
I DO seem to be around trouble that I have the opportunity to stop with some regularity. I guess I like to think of it as an opportune moment for the victim, that someone is there to help, rather than ask "why do these things happen around me".
I guess that is a little foolish, or grandiose, but your comment got me thinking. (and that's always dangerous)
My deleted comment did agree with DCD though. She is fucked now that she wrote that down. Fights and bodies at the hotel all weekend I predict.
