Sweathogs to reunite, bask in mutual success

From EW.com: Welcome Back, Kotter will receive the 35th Anniversary Award at the 2011 TV Land Awards, which tape April 10 and air April 17. John Travolta will reunite with his fellow cast members to accept the honor. (“What?…Where?”) As of now, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs (Freddie “Boom Boom” Washington), Ron Palillo (Arnold Horshack) and Marcia Strassman (Mr. Kotter’s wife, Julie) are confirmed to join Vinnie Barbarino. Other names will be announced.

Previously announced 2011 honorees include Regis Philbin (Legend Award), Family Ties (Fan Favorite Award) and The Cosby Show (Impact Award). Welcome Back, Kotter starred comic Gabe Kaplan as Gabe Kotter, a man who returns to his Brooklyn high school to teach remedial social studies to the underachieving Sweathogs. Season 1 of the show hit DVD in 2007. Perhaps this will help move along seasons 2 through 4?

What, Mr. Kotter has too much going on to attend? Ditto Epstein and Mr. Woodman ( wait, I think Woodman is dead). Where's Bo?

According to imdb Gabe Kaplan is very much alive and apparently released the book, "Kotter's Back" in 2007.

Mr.Woodman died in 1988 and I think it's hilarious that a gray haired Horshack looks like Weeze!

Epstein must be on board too since this is his imdb profile pic.

Oh wait, you mean Kotter died in the show? I kinda remember that I think.

No, I actually had it in my head that he died for real. Nope.

He didn't die in the show. He became the principal if the school and a fat black woman took over his class. Lorded appeared once inca while but hecwas pretty much off the show.

gabe kaplan lost the 'fro, but is a serious and respected poker player.

and boy did i love that show when it first aired, and boy does it ever not hold up (shudder).

Damn iPhone word correction! Kotter becomes principal, a large black woman takes over teaching responsibilities and Horeshack becomes an alcoholic. Once in a while Kotter and Vinnie make " guest" appearances. I agree with AC, I lived this show back in the day but boy oh boy does it not hold up!

Sigh. "loved" not "lived"
