Yeah, the dialogue was awful. Lines like "panties in a bunch" should be officially retired by the writer's guild. But the action, with the "fastball special" and the head flying down...that worked for me.
This doesn't bode well, though.
The problem is that it's very obvious that they just created lightbulb eyes in a cloud of smoke. I'm not convinced for one second that there's a giant robot standing there.
It doesn't help that the lights are white and the severed head's eyes are red.
The head looked cool, though. Maybe the FX weren't done yet.
