The Ruins looks creepy

From worstpreviews, The trailer for the horror film "The Ruins" has been released. The story revolves around a group of friends whose leisurely Mexican holiday takes a turn for the worse when they, along with a fellow tourist, embark on a remote archaeological dig in the jungle, where something evil lives among the ruins.

The trailer doesn't show what exactly lives in the ruins, but an article in USA Today revealed that the villain of the movie is a plant. As the resilience of the characters is worn down, the plant reveals itself to be more of a foe. A foe with intellect and abilities beyond those of the average Venus flytrap.

i recently finished reading "the ruins" and found it creepy indeed. i am usually a lightning-fast reader but had to keep setting the book aside to allow my dread and discomfort to diminish. even more embarrassing, i had to read it during the day.... guess my partial habituation to horror movies hasn't fully generalized yet.

I think it's cute that AC gets scared of this stuff!

The only thing that really scared me over the past 5 years has been JUON and The Ring.

7 days!

what's 7 days, jpx?

"What's 7 days"?

For shame, AC! You watched The Ring!!!

This makes me want to read the book more than see the flick. I usually prefer it anyway.

Especially after AC's reveal of how it affected her!

cognitive rigidity on my part, jpx. i thought you were excited about some new movie coming out in 7 days! now i get it.

dcd, i still have the paperback of the ruins and would be happy to pass it on to you when we meet up for sweeney todd. then you can share it around with anyone in the RI crew who's interested.

Do you think The Ruins will make a good film?

Great! I would love to snag it off you.

We need to figure out when we can go to Sweeney, my hubby works at night so I need to have a little time to figure out schedules and child care.

Maybe JPX should babysit since he won't be joining us!

I'd be happy too =)

dcd- cool! a weekend afternoon would be best for me. i am happy to traipse down to Providence or wherever.

jpx- yes, very much so, if it stays true to the book. otherwise just let the scifi channel produce it and get it overwith.

AC has always been cool about giving away her books to share with others - you rock, AC!
