What Octo has been doing all day (and night)
So Julie's maternity leave has begun and my next job keeps getting pushed back, so you think I'd have been blogging all day Monday but no, I wasn't. I still have to mock my sister for liking Sex in the City and everything, because I got all crazy about finishing my latest Lego project, and I finally did.
Inspired by Mr. Kim's flying boat/food stall from The Fifth Element (see below), I give you the flying boat/food stall belonging to The Evil Chef. I'll take some better pictures later and let you know where they are, but for now I think you can see what I went for here: a flying boat with an awning from which tons of crap is hanging. It's a dense piece.
The Evil Chef's slogan is a simple one, and refers to his fine, fine cooking: So Good, It's Evil!

OMG - that is way cool.
BTW, Jake has decided that you and he are going to move to New York City. Actually his exact words were, "Me, and Jeff and all of Jeff's Bionicles are going to live in New York City."
Nice f'ing job! That's really cool, man. Glad to see you're being so productive while Julie labors in the background =)
DCD, any interest in seeing this with me?
Music fans, prepare your Aqua Net. The '80s are making a comeback with this summer's inaugural "Regeneration Tour" featuring Human League , Belinda Carlisle, ABC, Dead or Alive, A Flock of Seagulls, and Naked Eyes.
The trek is set to roll out Aug. 1 in Phoenix, AZ, and travel from the West Coast to the East Coast through the end of the month. Dead or Alive is scheduled to appear through Aug. 11 and A Flock of Seagulls will pick up from there. The itinerary is listed below, although more shows may be added, according to a press release.
Organizers promise to rekindle those "feel-good '80s memories" with new wave and pop hits including "Don't You Want Me Baby?" (Human League), "Heaven is a Place on Earth" (Carlisle), "When Smokey Sings" (ABC), "You Spin Me Round" (Dead or Alive), "Always Something There to Remind Me" (Naked Eyes) and "I Ran" (A Flock of Seagulls).
Though some of the performers haven't been in the limelight for quite some time, others have continued to tour and release new music. The Human League celebrated its 30th anniversary last year by playing its best-selling album, "Dare!," live all over Europe, and the band is currently writing new material, according to its bio.
Also in 2007, Go-Go's vocalist Carlisle offered up "Voila," a French-language album marking her first solo release in a decade.
ABC original member Martin Fry resurrected the group's name in 1997 and continues to tour. He and bandmate David Palmer are currently working on a new ABC album scheduled for release this year, according to the band's bio.
Naked Eyes, who also continue to tour, released the 10-song acoustic set "Fumbling With the Covers" last year, and frontman Pete Byrne is currently recording tracks for a new electronic album, "Piccadilly," due later this year.
I drew a crayon cat for Amelia that looked like a basketball with whiskers. That's pretty cool too...
Seriously, too f-ing cool Octo.
I love that Jake said that. Because right now it's really, "Jeff and Julie and all of Jeff's Legos live in LA."
Looking at the actual 5th Element boat makes me realize just what a great representation the Lego 5th element boat is. There's so much stuff on the Lego boat. It's great.
Octo I love your expression in the picture. It captures both your pride and obsessive attention to detail.
JPX - I would definitely go see that! Just for ABC alone I would be in. Let me know details.
Yeah Julie, Jake is obsessed with Octo's Lego's. Maybe almost as much as Octo is. (Just realized I used Octo's actual name earlier, hope that's not too much of a blog faux pas!)
Oh, it's fine. Sometimes I'm glad you guys play along with the Octo thing at all. I wouldn't want Jake's exact words changed or clunked up with brackets, anyway.
Who is this "Jake" Don't you mean Calamari?
DCD, I'll fill you in on the details. Taken together, all those groups will create a great set. I like stuff from every one of those bands.
"Stuff" = "1 song"
truthfully i feel a little guilty not joining the horrorthoners going to this show, but
1. the regeneration lineup is (as jsp implies) disproportionately comprised of one-hit wonders.
2. dead or alive isn't playing boston.
3. it's the night after my journey-heart-cheap trick cheesefest. it would be like chasing a large pizza with nachos.
4. finally, if i change my mind, i have absolutely no doubt i can find a ticket at the last minute.
Come on, Flock of Seagals has at least 2 songs, "Wishing" and "I Ran" and...that's all I got.
That sucks that Dead or Alive isn't playing Boston, I want to hear You Spin Me, I still love that damn song. If anything, it will be fun to go just to be able to review it with DCD on the blog.
