First rule of Horrorthon is: watch horror movies. Second rule of Horrorthon is: write about it. Warn us. Tempt us. The one who watches the most movies in 31 days wins. There is no prize.

Back in the LA, Back in the LA, Back in the LA, CA
I moved from Oakland to Los Angeles this morning. I came down to go back to music school -- LA Music Academy; I start in October. Moving back to LA also affords me the opportunity to be closer to my family -- my parents and my brother and one of my sisters live down here and I've got 5 nieces and nephews who are getting older and cooler every minute.
I first moved away to go to Cal in 1995 and continued to live there, except for two half-year interludes -- to live in Vienna and to go touring around the US -- for almost exactly 13 years after that.
It was not an easy place to leave. I love the atmosphere of the Bay Area and I made many wonderful friends in my time there. Driving away, I felt as though I hadn't really said a proper goodbye to the place; no reminiscing time in my empty apartment, no moment of solitude while gazing at the Bay Area panorama from atop Grizzly Peak. I think I'm probably in denial about the whole thing -- my body sure seems to be trying to tell me something: I've been sick with the stomach flu or something for the last three days. It's a particularly crappy time for that because in addition to moving out and driving down, I'm going on a several week trip that will take me from Ohio (visiting my sister), to Vienna, to Amsterdam, to London, to New York and then finally back home.
By the way, if any of you east coast Thonners want to hang out while I'm in New York, let me know. I'll be there from September 4-11.

This now makes Johnny Sweatpants the only Horrorthonner in the Bay Area.
Good riddance, I thought he'd never leave...
Alright fine, I suppose I'll miss the bastard...
Wow, I learned more about you in this one post than I have in two years of blogging! Congrats on your move, although in reality I won't notice anything different unless you change your Avatar =)
50p, good to hear a little more of your backstory. hope you feel better so you can enjoy gallivanting around for the next few weeks. unfortunately i will just miss your trip to NYC... hope to be there myself the end of next week to catch some tennis, and it doesn't seem likely i'd be able to head back down again so quickly. if you do (re-)unite with other horrorthonners i will just have to suffer pangs of envy.
50pagemcgee, I added the sunset picture because whatever picture you had in your post was not displaying (at least not on my home and work computer).
Does this mean you'll be babysitting for Octo and Julie?
Moving always sucks, even if you are going to someplace you want to be.
Sounds like a fun new chapter in the life of 50p!
I hope you enjoy your new home.
It looks like I may be the only east coast thonner that may be able to meet up. My classes don't start until Sept. 9, and it could be nice to go up to New York for a day. I'll email you.
ok, jpx. avatar: changed.
