For some reason there's another Underworld film and now you can see the new trailer
From filmstalker, The trailer for Underworld 3, aka Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, is now online, and although it's filmed in a cinema and comes with the usual poor quality video and audio – as well as someone going to the toilet – it is looking pretty knockout.
Or rather it's sounding pretty knockout, because that opening speech sounds superb and very rousing. The action that follows looks pretty damn good too. Could we have underestimated the film?
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is actually the prequel to the Underworld series and returns to tell the story of the origins of the blood feud between the Lycans (Werewolves) and the Vampires.
Forgetting the creature side for a moment, it's actually quite a simple story, one that you could trace back to perhaps the dawn of entertainment. One group of aristocratic people are using another group as slaves. Amongst them one begins to speak out about their treatment and as he gains a following raises them up to break their bonds of slavery.
Yes, a tale oft told, however this one has teeth and they fight back.
Don't bother watching it here

Were the Underworld movies underrated? I remember the first one getting panned, and then I finally saw it on cable one night and found it not that bad. It was pretty gorgeous, anyway.
Never saw 2, I don't think.
I dug Underworld, but you just get the feeling that it could have been so much better.
#2 was not very good, but she sure is fun to watch in that outfit.
You seem to be having some sort of avatar failure, Landshark.
I can't think of a more boring action movie than the first Underworld. There are action movies that bore because there's not enough action but Underworld actually has boring action. It seemed to me that the whole movie centered around her angrily bursting through big double doors into rooms full of vampires lounging on divans. The next person to watch it has to count how often that happens.
I must concur with Octo's opinion. I watched it with him and we were both bored to tears. Miko, you must've been drunk!
Hmmm. Since I tend to agree with much of the film opinion here, it is possible I was intoxicated.
The other option is I saw it on HBO, and I always give movies I didn't pay for (individually, I know I pay for HBO)a little more leeway.
I certainly don't remember the action scenes being boring.
However, there's not a more boring actress going than Kate Beckinsale. Not sure how someone that hot with that accent can be as boring as she is, but she pulls it off. She leadens up every scene she's in, in every movie she's in.
Which makes me wonder why I just got a copy of Margot at the Wedding.
'Cause you're a big girl.
