OMG, I cannot let Jake see this, he will go bananas telling us all the different costumes he wants.
And I am not paying no $45 for no costume!! Here's a sheet, you can be a ghost!
(I'm kind of kidding actually, I love Halloween and am into getting Jake a costume he loves. In fact he was wearing his red Power Ranger costume from last Halloween the other day!)
Ha! this made me laugh out loud!
i suffered from "cheap halloween costume syndrome" as a child in barrington: i was inevitably a ghost (sheet), witch (hat), or gypsy (kerchief). due to this trauma i support parents in decking out their kids. dcd, you now have to get jake the awesome wig.
ac's from Barrington? I thought you were a friend of jpx's from grad school.
I was Madonna for Halloween for many, many years, by choice, and it could easily and cheaply be put together. Cut off tights under a skirt, teased hair sprayed hair, makeup, and a mole above the lip. One year my sister either couldn’t decide what to be or her costume didn’t work out. My cheap mother refused to buy her one and instead told her to be a California Raisin, which consisted of a large brown plastic garbage bag with holes cut for arms. My sister unhappily wore it, and cringed for years later at the mention of a raisin.
Whirlygirl, can you please wear that Madonna outfit tonight?
Landshark, ac is indeed from Barrington, but I we didn't meet until graduate school at SUNY Albany. Small damn world!
AC, where did you live in Barrington?
hazelton road. totally the other side of town from you ritzy brickyard pond types.
whirlygirl, even my smart cheap mom never thought of a california raisin! good stuff.
I didn't always have the "best" costumes, but our Mom made some of ours in the beginning which was cool. Octo was a great robot one year.
Oh, BTW, Jake chose this one!
PS - from a young age I always loved Halloween. I told my Mom one year (Octo would probably remember how old I was) that Halloween was my favorite "holiday" because I loved dressing up and I loved candy.
True to this day!
what's not to like?
a few years back husband and i attended a costume party and i revisited the witch costume but went all out, including long black wig. the cats actually hissed at me (which they never ever did). they either thought i was a stranger or were anti-wiccan.
Yep, Jake saw it...we bought one : )
Zack is going to be a pumpkin. We have a hand me down pumpkin costume from the stuff Jules gave us. I'm very excited about it.
ah pumpkin is awesome, both jake and maggie spent their first respective halloweens in the same elephant costume, think there was some leftover candy stuck in the damn thing for mags to eat
