Evil Dead Trap

(1988)****

This cult classic Japanese horror delivers the goods beautifully. It's obvious that this film is heavily influenced by the work of Fulci and Argento, write down to the gouged eyeball and electronic 80s music. The host of a TV news show challenges viewers to send in videotapes but so far nothing interesting has been sent in. That all changes when Nami receives a video of what appears to be a girl being tortured and murdered. She assembles a crew and they go out on a road trip to investigate. Their trek leads them to an abandoned military facility that is not on the map. The crew begin to explore the area but before they know it they are being stalked and hunted by unknown assailants.

Biddy Alert: Lots of shameless violence in this one and a whole lot of gore, definitely not for the squeamish.

A little of both.

You really are on a good trend this year! I always feel bad when you end up with a bunch of stinkers. Whether plan or luck, at least you have had mostly positive experiences!

Sounds awesome and I intend to watch it. I just wish it didn't latch itself onto the Evil Dead franchise with its name.
