Crichton to release 'Next' in November

From USATODAY, "NEW YORK (AP) — The latest work by million-selling novelist Michael Crichton is a futuristic thriller set in the present. Next, to be released Nov. 28 by HarperCollins, has an announced first printing of 2 million and a storyline the publisher bills as "fast, furious and out of control."
"Do you want to design your own pet? Change the stripes on the fish in your aquarium? Or sell your eggs and sperm online for thousands of dollars? Did you know one fifth of all your genes are owned by someone else?" reads a press release issued Tuesday by HarperCollins.

"This is not just the world of the future — it's the world right now! Most of the events in this book have already happened. And the rest are just around the corner. Get used to it."

Crichton's best sellers include Prey,The Andromeda Strain and Timeline. His fans include President Bush, whose admiration of State of Fear, a novel that doubts the impact of global warming, led to a White House meeting with the author in 2005."

Is this based on that MTV reality dating show of the same name?

(I never even knew of such a show, but I was overhearing a convo about it and it involves a bus and everyone always seeing the first guy and saying "next!")

Crichton was okay with me until his "enviromentalists are alarmists" book. If I ever do anything that George W. Bush is excited about, well...never mind, that isn't going to happen.
