Spock has lung disease

From newyorkdailynews, Aging 'Star Trek' star Leonard Nimoy, who played the elfin-eared, half-human, half-Vulcan Spock in the famous futuristic show, has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, he revealed recently on Twitter.

The 82-year-old, signing off on each of a series of tweets with LLAP, or “Live Long and Prosper,” has looked healthy in recent years. But he says the lung affliction is slowing him down.

COPD is most frequently found in those who smoke or used to smoke, according to the National Institutes of Health, and causes coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness and other breathing-related issues.
The disability is the third leading cause of death in the United States, according to NIH

Nimoy is best known for his turn as Mr. Spock, the super smart first officer of the starship Enterprise. He played the role from 1966 to 1969, then reprised the role in later Star Trek movies.

He played Spock Prime, an elder version of the character, in 2013’s “Star Trek Into Darkness,” and over the years since he first played the character, has lent his distinctive voice to several movies, TV shows and video games.

Well at 82 one would think he'd be slowing down a bit with or without COPD.

Well, that sucks. I hope he convinces some people to stop smoking.
