TO RECAP...

Spider-Man and El Tarantula have sleepover party, change outfits, rescue T's sister Rosa from prison!

Rosa returns to the safe house, only to discover her brother's squeeze Astella is a traitor in the service of fascist leader El Condor!  She shoots that bearded, pony-tailed fella!  What a bitch!

Spidey and Tarantula return to their normal clothes and also to the prison, which apparently doubles as El Condor's seat of power!  Here they are as filthy as common truck rats!

What's all this!?!  Stay tuned!

Meanwhile...

If you don't watch the whole YouTube thing below about the posters, at least go to around 6:30 or so and check out the fan-made posters.  They're cool.

What the hell happened to movie posters?

That's cold.

Meteorologist Eric Holthaus demonstrates what happens when you toss a pot of boiling water into the sky when it is -21°F with a wind chill of -51°F. Video shot Jan 6, 2014 in Viroqua, WI.

"Well I'm not going that way!"

From collider, If you’re a fan of Lego and The Simpsons, start saving your money.  That’s because later this year, Lego will be releasing playsets and minifigures based on the popular cartoon, and if they sell, you can expect plenty of additional ways for Lego to get your money.

With the first Simpsons playset, The Simpsons House, being released in April, a picture of the set has leaked online.  While many collectors wondered about the size and price point, the box reveals it’s 2,523 pieces and it comes with six minifigures (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and Ned Flanders), which means it should range between $150-$200 retail.  Hit the jump to check out the set.

As you can see in the picture below, Lego looks like they did a great job with The Simpsons house.  If you look close at the small picture on the upper right side, you can see the house opens up so you’ll be able to get a great view of the individual rooms.

As a big fan of Lego, and someone that spent part of Christmas break building some of their recent releases, I can’t wait to own this set.

"Star Wars" Spin-Off to Focus on Boba Fett

From worstpreviews, JJ Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII" is set to hit theaters on December 18th, 2015. The film will be the first installment in a trilogy and will spin-off into other films focusing on specific "Star Wars" characters.

There have been rumors that the spin-off movies will revolve around Yoda and Han Solo. But now comes word from Jon Schnepp, the director of animated series "Metalocalypse" and "The Venture Bros," that one of them will definitely focus on Boba Fett.

"One of them is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact," he said. "I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan."

Kasdan is actually the writer of "Star Wars: EpisodeV - The Empire Strikes Back," the movie that introduced Boba Fett. So, it seems logical for Kasdan to handle the spin-off as well.

We already know that the spin-offs will be origin stories, so expect to see Boba Fett in his early years as a bounty hunter. If the movie will be the first spin-off, then it will hit theaters in 2016, one year after "EpisodeVII."

Russian Road Rage Battle Ends In Knife Vs Shovel Fight

From geekology, This is some dashcam footage from Russia (where else?) of a guy in a Toyota Camry constantly trying to get in front of and stop another Ruskie in a Nissan MPV, presumably to stab him with the the knife he has. He finally gets the guy to swerve off the road into a ditch, then climbs on top of his van (after slipping and eating shit a couple times), when he discovers, SURPRISE, his adversary brought a shovel to the knife fight. And, as I'm sure the original attacker's shattered hip will attest, it was a smart decision.
Keep going for the video, but the real action is at 0:45, 2:30, and the accident and fight beginning at 3:00.

David Lynch and Mark Frost’s ‘On the Air’ Is Like a Dream Chronicle of Making ‘Twin Peaks’

From slashfilm, On the Air, the second show from Twin Peaks creators Mark Frost and David Lynch, barely registered in the public consciousness when it premiered on ABC in 1992. The show’s seven episodes are now available on YouTube, and did the rounds at the very end of last year.
There’s a reason the show had little post-broadcast life and is all but forgotten: it isn’t very good. An attempt to create a zany behind-the-scenes look at live TV comedy in the late ’50s, On the Air is a bit like David Lynch doing 30 Rock. While the show did have the input of Twin Peaks creators Frost and Lynch, it stalled quickly, sliding into repetition and stale gags. Seven episodes were shot, but only three aired.
But wait! I didn’t write this piece just to say “here’s a thing, it’ kinda sucks.” In fact the pilot, written by Frost and Lynch and directed by Lynch, is actually pretty terrific. (In 1997 it was ranked squarely in the middle of a list of the 100 best TV episodes ever made.)
Now, Twin Peaks is in the ether again. David Lynch is evidently shooting something Peaks-related next week, which is probably a web-bound promo for the complete box set we know to be coming later this year. So it’s a good time to revisit On the Air. Because whatever intentions Frost and Lynch may have had, that first episode is like one long dream sequence that reconfigures and laughs at the whole experience of creating Twin Peaks.

Amityville Is Coming Back To Haunt Theaters In January 2015

From cinemablend, Back in 1975, the Lutz family temporarily moved into a house in Amityville, a Long Island suburb in New York, but quickly left due to "paranormal activity" within the residence. Almost 40 years later, we’ve been through 10 films, some more related than others, and even more books on the subject. The Amityville franchise will continue anew with the completely fictional and unrelated found footage film simply calledAmityville, which Dimension Films has given a January 2, 2015 release date. So just in case you were wondering what the first shitty movie of 2015 would be, now you know.

Formerly going by the awkward title The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes, this new film is currently sitting alone on its release date, according to ComingSoon, in a month where films are usually sent to die quiet deaths. I’m certain the deaths taking place inAmityville will be of the much louder variety however. It will follow a ballsy news intern who wants to blow open the investigation involving the haunted house on Ocean Ave. To do so, she brings in a team of journalists, paranormal enthusiasts and religious leaders to explore the seemingly unexplainable events, but the investigation only unleashes another even more evil presence. Put your hand inside a garbage disposal if you thought something different was going to happen.

My opinions may be particularly damning about this film, since it continues one of the worst franchises in horror history, but I have quite a bit of faith in co-writer/co-director Daniel Farrands. This will be his first feature, though he has directed a host of horror cinema documentaries, including the exhaustively excellent Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th and Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy. He also co-wrote the much better than average 2007 thriller Girl Next Door, adapted from the Jack Ketchum novel. His fellow Amityville writer and director Casey La Scala is best known for producer duties, as well as directing the skater comedyGrind

The last time Hollywood tried to resurrect this franchise was with 2005’s super-averageThe Amityville Horror with Ryan Reynolds and Melissa George. There have also been two direct to trash bin flicks called The Amityville Haunting and The Amityville Asylum, and the decent documentary My Amityville Horror, which told the original story from the point of view of Daniel Lutz, one of the children who moved into the Ocean Ave. house in 1975.

There’s no denying people are still quite interested in this story, but that doesn’t mean anyone is clamoring for a found footage take on the subject. Wasn’t anyone inspired by the lush look of James Wan’s The Conjuring? That film incidentally involved the Amityville investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. It’s a small, haunted world.

Oy! Santa! I never got a Micronauts Mobile Exploration Lab

Okay, here's my answer to JPX's post below.  I really, really wanted this thing and never got one.  As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever even seen one in real life.  The Mobile Exploration lab is, as you can see, some sort of highly ill-advised combo of jet car and towering inhabitable robot.  It wasn't the vehicle you see here that enticed me so.

The trick to Micronauts were the ubiquitous pegs and holes that adorned every one of their toys, so that you could combine and switcheroo parts to your child's heart's content.  Observe the image above, which comes from a catalog pamphlet thingie that came with several Micronaut toys (I've searched for this image before and I'm delighted to have finally found it).  It features a smattering of possible (mostly stupid) homemade combinations, and one of them still sends my heart pitter-pattering with its coolness.

This guy.  It's the stripped-down base of the Mobile Exploration Lab with a clear dome inserted in the robot tower hole, and oh my god just look at the awesome.  I wanted to swoosh that thing around the house in the worst way, and it never happened.

I'm not sure I would even want a Mobile Exploration Lab today.  Micronauts were flimsily made; of all my toys, they were the worst at surviving the ravages of boy-ownership and time.  But I still like the look of that combo vehicle, so perhaps I'll boost the design for a Lego ship.  Progress!
