You know what I think? I don't think people could even tell whether what they're doing is actually cool or not!
First, It presumes the watchers even care (generally, I don't suspect they do - most are too busy worrying about whether they themselves are cool right then).
And second, it's like "righteousness." I think people always choose what they believe is the "best" choice right then - even if contextually, it's not. In this case, people will opt for believing what they're doing is not un-cool.
Overthinking it, probably. Guess I don't think people should be so self conscious.
(too preachy? Too obvious? Maybe too long? Someone say something!)
