Daily Spider-Bomb! Horrorthon catch-up Week 2

Spider-Man strikes bafflingly awkward pose that's worse than Elaine Benes dancing!

One nice thing about Spidey's constant banter is that it makes me feel like mimes aren't all that bad.

It's a good thing the soldiers are ordered to ignore the water, because they're totally freaking out!

Typical superhero team-up crap:  "My pile of guys is bigger than yours!"

"But on the plus side, I'm not getting my ass handed to me by another door."

(I like to imagine that first panel as cheap animation, where they pass by those boxes several times.)

"And being evil makes you even hotter!  Damn it!"

How many freakin' times are these two going to surrender?

Also I find myself surprisingly incensed by Mary Jane sleeping with a framed picture of her husband.  I hope the only reason is that her bottle of valium is taped to the back of the frame.

Want to see: "Livid(e)"

From bloodydisgusting, Sorry of that title screws you up, but I wanted to cover all bases. Sometimes this movie is called Livid, and sometimes it is called Livide. I talked about Inside in my last article here, so you know I had to discuss those directors follow-up to that amazing horror movie.
Livid is not as extreme as Inside, but it is entirely just as memorable. Honestly, I will use a word to describe Livid that you will not likely see being used to describe horror very often. Beautiful. Honestly, the  movie is beautiful. Sometimes it feels more like a fable or fairty tale than a horror movie. Then someone gets their throat slashed and you remember, oh yeah, this is horror. Please don’t let that description put you off. The French have never let you down with their horror before, and they wont start with Livid.
Livid is about a girl named Lucy (played by one of the most stunning woman in the world, ChloĆ© Coulloud) who is a care taker for an ill old woman. She comes to find out there may be an artifact worth great money in the house, and she decides to come back late one night with a couple of friends to see if they can find it and break out of their financial rut they have all been in. Ofcourse, as is the case with most good horror, be careful when you go looking where you shouldn’t.
It may start slow, but once things pick up, it is hard not to be magnetized to this film. We find out the old lady she is caring for may not quite be who we thought she was, and this house itself has a bit of a sordid history. Oh, and there are ballerina vampires. That may sound lame, but trust me, there are a couple scenes with them that are visually stunning and wholly unforgettable.
Just excuse the ending. Everything in this movie is perfect until that final shot, when it all turns into a fucking Disney movie. But seriously, if you can look past that, you will love Livid.
Oh, and Beatrice Dalle is in it, too. Because you can’t do good French horror with Beatrice Dalle.

Daily Spider-Bomb! Post Horrorthon catch-up Week 1

Face it, Tarantula, if you sit around swapping tales about the security of a public official's office, your country is pretty boring.

Only the best security guards question the nature of perception and reality before taking action.

With a mighty NHHHNN, Spidey uses his incredible power of not always being completely useless!

"Si, Amigo!  Songs will be sung about how you heroically slightly aided the volatile chemicals I brought in my pocket!"

"Superheroes?  I'll send some guys!"  -- every villain ever.

I'm not sure what's worse, the ludicrous bid for drama that is "Like we said: time lag" or Spidey's blatant trademark infringement.

TO RECAP...

Spider-Man and El Tarantula have sleepover party, change outfits, rescue T's sister Rosa from prison!

Rosa returns to the safe house, only to discover her brother's squeeze Astella is a traitor in the service of fascist leader El Condor!  She shoots that bearded, pony-tailed fella!  What a bitch!

Spidey and Tarantula return to their normal clothes and also to the prison, which apparently doubles as El Condor's seat of power!  Here they are as filthy as common truck rats!

What's all this!?!  Stay tuned!

Meanwhile...

If you don't watch the whole YouTube thing below about the posters, at least go to around 6:30 or so and check out the fan-made posters.  They're cool.

What the hell happened to movie posters?

That's cold.

Meteorologist Eric Holthaus demonstrates what happens when you toss a pot of boiling water into the sky when it is -21°F with a wind chill of -51°F. Video shot Jan 6, 2014 in Viroqua, WI.

"Well I'm not going that way!"

From collider, If you’re a fan of Lego and The Simpsons, start saving your money.  That’s because later this year, Lego will be releasing playsets and minifigures based on the popular cartoon, and if they sell, you can expect plenty of additional ways for Lego to get your money.

With the first Simpsons playset, The Simpsons House, being released in April, a picture of the set has leaked online.  While many collectors wondered about the size and price point, the box reveals it’s 2,523 pieces and it comes with six minifigures (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and Ned Flanders), which means it should range between $150-$200 retail.  Hit the jump to check out the set.

As you can see in the picture below, Lego looks like they did a great job with The Simpsons house.  If you look close at the small picture on the upper right side, you can see the house opens up so you’ll be able to get a great view of the individual rooms.

As a big fan of Lego, and someone that spent part of Christmas break building some of their recent releases, I can’t wait to own this set.

"Star Wars" Spin-Off to Focus on Boba Fett

From worstpreviews, JJ Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII" is set to hit theaters on December 18th, 2015. The film will be the first installment in a trilogy and will spin-off into other films focusing on specific "Star Wars" characters.

There have been rumors that the spin-off movies will revolve around Yoda and Han Solo. But now comes word from Jon Schnepp, the director of animated series "Metalocalypse" and "The Venture Bros," that one of them will definitely focus on Boba Fett.

"One of them is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact," he said. "I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan."

Kasdan is actually the writer of "Star Wars: EpisodeV - The Empire Strikes Back," the movie that introduced Boba Fett. So, it seems logical for Kasdan to handle the spin-off as well.

We already know that the spin-offs will be origin stories, so expect to see Boba Fett in his early years as a bounty hunter. If the movie will be the first spin-off, then it will hit theaters in 2016, one year after "EpisodeVII."

Russian Road Rage Battle Ends In Knife Vs Shovel Fight

From geekology, This is some dashcam footage from Russia (where else?) of a guy in a Toyota Camry constantly trying to get in front of and stop another Ruskie in a Nissan MPV, presumably to stab him with the the knife he has. He finally gets the guy to swerve off the road into a ditch, then climbs on top of his van (after slipping and eating shit a couple times), when he discovers, SURPRISE, his adversary brought a shovel to the knife fight. And, as I'm sure the original attacker's shattered hip will attest, it was a smart decision.
Keep going for the video, but the real action is at 0:45, 2:30, and the accident and fight beginning at 3:00.

David Lynch and Mark Frost’s ‘On the Air’ Is Like a Dream Chronicle of Making ‘Twin Peaks’

From slashfilm, On the Air, the second show from Twin Peaks creators Mark Frost and David Lynch, barely registered in the public consciousness when it premiered on ABC in 1992. The show’s seven episodes are now available on YouTube, and did the rounds at the very end of last year.
There’s a reason the show had little post-broadcast life and is all but forgotten: it isn’t very good. An attempt to create a zany behind-the-scenes look at live TV comedy in the late ’50s, On the Air is a bit like David Lynch doing 30 Rock. While the show did have the input of Twin Peaks creators Frost and Lynch, it stalled quickly, sliding into repetition and stale gags. Seven episodes were shot, but only three aired.
But wait! I didn’t write this piece just to say “here’s a thing, it’ kinda sucks.” In fact the pilot, written by Frost and Lynch and directed by Lynch, is actually pretty terrific. (In 1997 it was ranked squarely in the middle of a list of the 100 best TV episodes ever made.)
Now, Twin Peaks is in the ether again. David Lynch is evidently shooting something Peaks-related next week, which is probably a web-bound promo for the complete box set we know to be coming later this year. So it’s a good time to revisit On the Air. Because whatever intentions Frost and Lynch may have had, that first episode is like one long dream sequence that reconfigures and laughs at the whole experience of creating Twin Peaks.
