Bell X1 on Letterman in 2009

This is mostly me responding to Octo's challenge, but I was also curious about his comments on changes to the blogger posting interface. I'm also trying some new way to post youtube vids using the built in blogger button on youtube itself. Pretty cool if this works.

Anyway, Kat and I are seeing these guys next week in Ann Arbor. Kind of Talking Heads meets Radiohead if you haven't heard them.

I'm amped for this H-thon and am determined to get back into double digits! No laughing in the back, Catfreek.

Wow, those guys really do sound like the Talking Heads. I can't recall ever saying that about any band.

Isn't it nice when Dave genuinely likes the musical guest? You can always tell.

BTW, it seemed like you forgot to title your post and the YouTube title filled in automatically. I cut "[HD]" and "and MP3 Download." Hope I didn't step on your toes.

I think it did that automatically; can't remember if I had the option to change it or not. Was probably just being lazy.

Yeah, when I first heard this song, I thought it was some old T-Heads b-side I didn't know.

For a while, I didn't follow up on these guys because I figured they were almost too derivative. But the rest of the album has more of their own sound, though it still fits into that "alt-arena rock" category for sure.

The great thing is we're seeing them in a legendary old 60s folk venue called The Ark. It's like the size of a big living room.

Awesome!

There used to be an Irish bar in NYC called The Scratcher. On Wednesdays they'd have Irish folk musicians come in and jam. It was one of those long narrow bars that had the bar on one side and a row of tables on the other. There was no stage; the musicians would just sit around the big table in the back and get to it. Man I loved that bar.
