Marvel Films Break Harry Potter, James Bond, Star Wars Record


From darkhorizons, With the first few days of box-office in for "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", the nine films that make up the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe' this week have now become the highest-grossing film franchise at the U.S. domestic box-office. The top ten are:
1 - Marvel Cinematic Universe (9 Films)
$2,463.3 billion
2 - Harry Potter (8 Films)
$2,390.1 billion
3 - Star Wars (7 Films)
$1,918.0 billion
4 - James Bond (24 Films)
$1,912.8 billion
5 - Batman (8 Films)
$1,897.8 billion
6 - The Lord of the Rings (6 Films)
$1,622.0 billion
7 - Shrek (5 Films)
$1,419.6 billion
8 - Spider-Man (4 Films)
$1,375.9 billion
9 - Twilight (5 Films)
$1,363.5 billion
10 - Pirates of the Caribbean (4 Films)
$1,279.2 billion
Adjusted for inflation, the James Bond franchise easily stands on top with $5.26 billion, ahead of "Star Wars" with $4.26 billion, "Harry Potter" with $2.95 billion, "Batman" with $2.78 billion and Marvel with $2.58 billion. On the global stage, "Harry Potter" still dominates with $7.7 billion over Marvel's $5.97 billion.

Make sure you stay all the way to the end because there are two post-credit sequences. Also, AVOID SPOILERS! Some major stuff happens that you don't want ruined for you...

They just did a two-part Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that tied in with events of the movie. Which is cool.

I was gonna comment on the earlier article about Marvel daring to open head-to-head against Supes vs. Batman, but why the hell shouldn't they? They're kicking so much ass with these movies, not just DC Comics but, as we see here, everybody. Good for them! These movies are great.

Make sure you do not watch the SHIELD episode, it will ruin Captain America's biggest surprise!
