(2012) **1/2
A father in the midst of divorce purchases a strange box for his daughter at a yard sale. Unfortunately the box contains a nasty Jewish spirit who yearns to possess the child.
What can I say, there was potential but they missed pretty much every opportunity to make this film actually scary. Like so many recent films it was totally reliant on special effects and startling noises to try and get a jolt from the audience. Sorry dudes, that shit is just not cutting it anymore. However, the popcorn was fresh and buttery so the night wasn’t an entire waste.
First rule of Horrorthon is: watch horror movies. Second rule of Horrorthon is: write about it. Warn us. Tempt us. The one who watches the most movies in 31 days wins. There is no prize.

Generally possession stories irk me but I'll admit I was quietly hoping this was a winner, what with the scary butterflies and everything.
Now I want some fresh, buttery popcorn.
I also had hopes for this one - the shot from the commercials with the fingers coming up from her throat really gave me the willies. Oh well.
Gotta start getting my shite together for this year!
That picture alone is worth a star or two. It makes me hungry for a hand sandwich.
